Default Gauge problem

I got a Mustang V6 of 2001 and in the last few month sometimes when I turn on the car all the gauges get to the maximum reading then they turn off and turn on again to the correct reading. Will this situation cause damage to the gauges or cause another problem in the future?

i dont think that it will damage your guages...try unhooking ur batery for 5 mins. if that doesnt work. then i dont know. i think someone on another forum said that he changed his batery and it went away - could it be a dying battery?

That happens when you have a bad connetion on the battery or a dead battery. The power drains down so low it resets the ECU thus the guage goes into full sweep when you turn it to the on postion.
