ABS shuts off if you pump your brake a few times which I think he did.

I bet its not as bad as he thinks....it's only bad if you cant drive it back home. Fender benders are for ******

ABS.. PShhh... who needs it.

just another thing to unhook when yer working on the car.

T/C?... ****, what is that for? i got my winter honda!
For our cars, I believe ABS was an option, not standard. Forget the Honda, just make sure you got a posi, sand, and traction control off and you can do better than some FWD cars.

srry guys i was extremly busy today and didnt get around to take any photos i was gone alll day, and yea i do have abs but yea i most of pumped em a few times or sumthing **** i cnt even member but i was going done a this widny cury road next to a lake and i went into the turn to fast, and so i put pressure on my brakes and faster than i knew it i went right into guard rail going baout 50 and then it whipped it around and hit the back a little bit, soo its not totaled or anything but its a bit more than an fender bender in my opinion, srry for the delay guys i will really try tomorrow but i gotta go take it by an auto repair shop to get an estimate

Somehow I really doubt ABS shuts off if you pump your brakes.

ABS doesn't "shut off" if you pump the brakes, but it won't kick in and be effective if you pump the brakes.

in my opinion abs is rediculous--my mom has an suv with abs and ive driven that and the stang in the winter and aside from it having 4x4 which makes turns really ez without sliding id rather drive the stang. somtimes stopping is a bitch in the suv--for instance if you push the brakes ever so slightly the abs kicks in when the slightest bit of slide begins and you just here that annoying sound of the abs and the whole situation sux...honestly abs is prolly a good thing its just not all that user friendly in my opinion

abs activates based on calculations of wheel speed. it doesnt shut off if you pump but that is the correct way to try and counter sliding while braking.

Valid point. If I wasn't so poor, I'd be running some nice skinny snow tires but until then, I have to be patient when going up hills, even if it takes me an hour...

ABS, traction control? What the hell? My 96 is such a spirited olympic event in the Utah snows without those comforts, I should be an olympic gold medalist in slidding, 360's and the ever so fun and popular "holy ****! what the hell was that?" Since I got rid of my BFG KDWS and switched to the Hankooks the car has better manners. I have prayed for traction control at times.

ABS isn't really there to stop you quicker. how quick you stop depends on friction, weight and velocity. ABS allows you to steer while your not stopping thus keeping it under control. Agreed it is an annoying sound but it can pump the brakes 100's of times a second whereas we would be lucky to pull of once a second. ABS is good .... I'm not a real fan of the traction control though. Seems to engage to hard and continue to cause spinning until it stops you completely, then you need to try and get started from a dead stop again.

I've noticed that it kicks in when I don't want it to (like when going up a snowy hill, a little spin is better than no spin) and when I want it to kick in, I end up burning out. Also, another benefit of ABS is when you do slam the brakes, since your wheels won't lock-up, you won't end up w/ a nice flat spot on your tires.

There are quite a few mustangs that don't have ABS. I don't think any of the base model 99's have it.

my old sixer didnt have traction control, I dont think it was an option at all back in 95... learned how to drive in the snow in that and now there shouldnt be any problem with the GT... though I dont have to drive my car every day, only when I come home from college =D
