Clutch problem.

Ok tonight I was driving my car and went to shift into 3rd gear and I hear some noise from under my car as if somethin broke and my clutch went really soft. I cant shift into any gear when engagin the clutch at all. Therefore I had to get my car towed home. When I dont press in the clutch I can shift into gears with no problem. When I press in the clutch to start the car it starts right up. Do you guys think my clutch cable snapped? :help:

Sounds like your clutch cable. Follow it from your clutch up through the firewall and its probably frayed. if you need a new one, buy OEM.

Do you know a ballpark price of what they run?

MattJ 10-09-2006 08:32 PM

I believe they are like 65.

I just looked at Dallas mustang they have a cable and quadrant for 60. Are they difficult to install? Looks like a job I should be able to do myself.

dont buy it, they are garbage with a thin cable that rubs and frays easily. thats why i mentioned to go with OEM again.

If you want a good cable/quadrant kit, get the Maximum Motorsports piece. Comes w/ a topside adjuster, quadrant, and OEM cable. $121.36.
