Default exhaust question

I have long tubes and cats.... i want to be louder - Im using 40 flows right now, but I was thinking of just puting a dump off the headers. What do you think? Will this hurt my motor? - I am using a modded stock H pipe right now. ALso do you think the stock H is holding me back power wise? Whould it be better to use a new O/R H or X - or will it be just as good to run the open headers?

dump out the headers?

you can't be serious

pony up the dough and and have it router out the side or buy a midpipe/ catback setup

EDIT^^^

whats holding you back power wise is the heads... new heads/ cams/ valvetrain is what every mustang needs

it will most likely make the engine throw codes...

AND

the exhaust fumes will not flow well... they will actually tumble from the lack of back pressure...

the headers will allow the fumes to flow so well that they tumble...

idk if you understand what i'm tryin to say... it will cost you some power

so...

take it to a shop and have they make pipes come out the sides (cheap)

or buy an offroad pipe and a catback (whether you do muffs, dumps, or no muffs either way better then dumping out the headers)

not to mention the carbon monoxide poisoning

well I have a modded stock H now - with dumps on the flows in the middle - so it already chokes on the exhaust - i dont care - however - why would the motor throw codes? - I have my Ob2 turned off. Basically im aksing do our motors have to have H's or X's - or can we just run open headers and be loud as **** with out problems

well like i said... the exhaust won't flow right... go find a shop and have em route it out the sides... and your car will stink like hell when your driving it...

you could probably find someone to weld something in for a hundred bucks... if i was you thats what'd i do...

it will cause power loss and loss in MPG

very minimal loss... but a loss that you can and should avoid

You can run open long tubes just fine. Just dont think you will be faster because at your power level you wont be.

youll probably pulled over for exessive noise ordinance violations. If I were you, id get rid of chambered mufflers and get flow through bullet style like SLP or borla stingers, or something.

Unless you are pushing bad power to the wheels, running open headers like that, you will be slower which = less HP. And very loud, to the point it sounds like sh*t. I've seen it and i've heard it on a friends 85 GT, that had a nice build 302 in it. He wanted to see how it sounded, and it was crap crackling, and the HP loss was very noticeable.
