speedo not workin

Question speedo not workin

ok guys i just bought my stang about two months ago ago the speedo didnt work when i bought it. so i have tryed the fuses no luck. so i dunno what it could be now a sensor? relay? what? its a 87' Mustang LX Convertible 5.0 any help would be appreciated :wallbash:

'87 has a manual speedo, meaning it has a small gear in the tranny, connected to a cable that runs from the tranny to the speedo. The cable spins the speedo and viola!. Anyway, if it doesn't work it either doesn't have small gear in the speedo or the cable is broke or frozen. Those are really the only 2 things I would think it could be.

I would check on that, cause the speedsensor does determine your MPH, it's a mechanical speedo.

thanks im going to check where it connects to the gauge cluster then work my way to where it connects to the tranny. thanx guys
