Gear problem
I recently had some used ford racing 4:10 gears installed. When I make a right turn I hear a rubbing/grinding noise pretty bad. It only does it when Im off the gas when turning. When Im on the gas it dont really do it as bad. Any thoughts on what it could be. I checked up under my car and I dont see anything that may be rubbing my tires. :helpsmili

Hmm that's wierd haven't heard of anything like that just while you're turning...Wish I could help, maybe bearings went bad or something? But that's just a guess. If it were your gears though you would hear them driving straight usually while slowing down, not just turning...

The carrier(also known as the spool)is what the axles connect to inside the rear end(if I'm not 100% correct on this then someone please chime in)With my problem I had upgraded to 31 spline axles and carrier and it was bad from the factory, but mine made the exact same noise and it was only when i was turning, but you shouldn't have to replace the gears, unless you have been driving around a while like that, it is possible to have done some damage.

It says it replaces the spider gears which is what was screwed up on mine, so that may solve your problem, but i suggest having the gears removed and looking at everything before buying something that you might not need.It is possible that the gears are not set right, have the shop that did the work take on the responsibilty to fix it, they didn't do it right the first time.
