Default Cobra air filter!!!

Well today i was bored and decided to pop the hood of my car and do a little tune-up. I changed the plugs/flushed the radiator...and I went to go find my air filter and found that it was right next to my fog light!?!? (I bought the car used) Well I thought coool...this guy bought a K&N system and put it on it. Well to my horror it looks like the guys found a nother mustangs air tube and then just attached it to the factory tubing and then mounted it down there. This has to be ****ing with my air/fuel ratio. Any suggestions?! Or is this just the stock way?

you just now noticed it? Anyway, do you have a picture of it. Just spend a little money and get a K&N CAI for your cobra.....it will give you a nice little gain since you have a 4 valve....oh and K&N CAI's are CARB legal.

That is not the stock airbox on an 01 cobra. The stock airbox is on the passenger side of the engine bay. You can buy an K&N CAI as that should give you good gains. If the filter is really really dirty it will have some performance hit against you but CAI's perform well in those types of locations as well since the air will tend to be cooler since it is not pulling directly from the engine compartment.
