Default C-clip eliminators

Ok, so ive been looking into a cobra rear end swap and have seen c-clip eliminators quoted with the differential....What are these things?

I was told it locks the axle's in so where the limited slip doesn't work but that person was about 50% positive this was correct....Can anyone help me out?

If this is true, I wouldn't want it for auto-x'ing! Just trying to get my p's and q's straight!

Yeah they are used for drag racing on high HP cars that launch real hard. Keeps the axles from popping out. Im sure someone will come in here and get more technical about it, but thats what they do. They also take away your ABS in the rear which I dont think you want.
