I was talkin to some kid at the track a couple weeks ago....he has the same year car as me...an 02.. I was talking to him about rear gears..and he said that he has 3.73 gears and he didnt feel much of a diff from them at all..he is teh one that finally convinced me to get 4.10's...
Right now I have 4.10's in my living room that UPS delivered today..I also have a pair of maximummotor sports Sub frame connectors waiting to be installed ...I cant wait to feel the difference of the 4.10 over my sukky 3.27's..!!!!! I'm hoping also for atleast 2 tenths off my quarter mile times!

The 4.10s are sick. Not sure how well the 3.73s turn the tires but I am spinning my 315s on a 40 mph roll with my 4.10s. Congrats on the 3.73s...let them break in before you run them too hard. 500 miles is a good number. Yes, I am aware some people get them and run them right away, but then again, some people sniff paint. Sure it is fun and all, but the long term damage just doesn't make it worth it!

They are gears!!If they are installed right there is no need for a break in period. And I was told that by a guy that build's race car's for a living.

Gears need to have an adjusting period, like all metal when you heat it up. You can expect a longer life out of them if you do it right. I'm happy all these people who run 9 second cars just plug the gears in and go. But they aren't in it for the long haul. They are use to having to swap gears in and out on a regular basis and a lot of their cars won't see 500 miles before something breaks. I don't much care if you break them in or not, I am just telling you the right way to do it. Race cars and DDs are two different things. Engines have a break in period, rotors have a break in period, gears are no exception. The metal gets hot and can warp.
