Paint....
Ok, im getting ready to get a body kit and have the car repainted. I am curious though, what's the normal cost involved. I went to my paint shop here in town and he quoted me $2,500 this is what it includes:
Replacing headlight bracket. (was in an accident several years ago)
Prepping, painting, and mounting full body kit.
Painting entire car (without doing full repaint) meaning, not pulling windows, doors etc.. would have been $5000+ to do full re-paint or change the color.
Color will be a deep pearl blue, similar base to what I already have, but with ALOT of pearl added.
So, to you paint & body guys.. Am I being jipped, or is this a good deal?
This is the kit. Can't decide on the Side scoops, or the rear spoiler. I can't decide whether to leave the original spoiler, or remove it all-together.
PS: Prob going to add a chin spoiler with this kit.

Make damn sure there isn't a disclaimer about imperfections showing through. I about beat the paint manager at the Maaco in Mesa, Az after they did a **** poor job on my mom's Silverado and then hid behind that disclaimer!!
Ask to see pictures or actual vehicles this guy has done. Ask for references, it's your ride that is at stake here, get a quality job! Further, does this include a colorsand and buff, if not cough up the extra cash or be LET DOWN!
On a down side to heavy pearl, if it ever gets scratched, you will NEVER get a 100% color match!!! Park in the south 40 of parking lots and all that other good stuff.
Is the car going to be painted and then the kit put on, or the kit installed prior to paint? It will look better painting the kit off the car at the same time then assemble it.
$2500 is sounds good, but did you ask these questions, or just get a boner at the thought of your car in fresh paint with a body kit?

If I understand correctly, they are going to fit the kit to the car and then paint it. Im assuming that they will remove it after to paint it to get the underside as well.
I also forgot to mention that they will be pulling all of the dents & dings as well. (included in the $2500)
And, yes it includes all color sanding and buffing.

oh and one more thing to add... get EVERTHING in writing. if he says he's pulling dents, have him write it somewhere and sign it. No matter what the paint guy is doing, get it in writing. my brother got ripped off on his and the guy didn't paint his moldings like he said he would. he also left some dents in the roof of the car ( he didn't do very good at using body filler and stuff) and my brother got f-ed cuz he didn't have it written anywhere. just a heads up for ya!! i would never take anyones word for anything anymore.. o yea, and ask for guarantees on peeling, fading, bubbling, and stuff like that.

Wow, well umm... I don't even know where to start on that one.... Ill go to the point here..
If you're referring to my asking for advice, I never asked for an opinion on whether or not I should keep my car or not, my question was cost.
And, as far as taking advice, I don't take advice from anyone with a vocabulary that consists of two words or less, and incase you didn't figure it out yet im referring to you. :loser:
So, in closing.. I'll finish this part of my post with a simple :ban:
Now, on to the sad news... After the body shop ordered the kit I came home to do a little more research on it and found that it is nothing more than "valances" on the front and rear.. My front and rear bumper covers are pretty much shot, and with the expense of the body work already at nearly $3500 I just couldn't see spending the extra $300-500 for new bumper covers, so unfortunately the body work has to take a back seat. :surrender
Im not sure what to do at this point, because the car has nearly 140,000mi and the work load is just getting a little over the top for me, Im thinking I might just have to hang it up for now and think about keeping the car for a project one day down the road... :censored:
I guess im just a little frustrated, because at this point it feels like every step forward leads to three steps back.. Oh well, I guess that's just life..
