Steam out of Defroster vent?

Steam out of Defroster vent?
Ok, I got a problem. On the way to work this morning I noticed my car started feeling like it was running on 4 cylinders after driving for about 20 miles. The first 20 miles the car ran fine. Well, once I get in traffic I notice a strong smell of antifreeze and notice there is steam coming from my defroster vents. Then, from right in front of the passenger side of the windshield I notice steam as well.
While all this is going on my temp gauge never gets over half way? I get to work and pop the hood and there is no leaks anywhere, but I notice the overflow tank is pretty much dry. I just changed the thermostat a couple of weeks ago and the tank then was full. I have no puddles of antifreeze in my garage or where I park at work? I can't check the radiator itself right now to see if it is full or not, but any idea on what the hell is going on with my car?
Or, should I just drive the **** out of it today, blow it up and drop a 5.4 in it? lol

I didn't know if it was that or not because I don't have any antifreeze in my floorboard?
Damn, it sucks too because it's 42 miles from my house where my tools are to bypass it!!!!! DAMMIT!

Lucky for me my father in law is going to replace it for me (only have to pay for parts). What sucks is right now my wife's car is in his shop and I have about a $400 bill on top of a $400 bill for my tires I have now! ****ing sucks! But, I just went to Pep Boys and got a bypass kit, so for now my car is fixed for $3.99
BTW: I took a friend of mines Eclipse to Pep Boys, and damn those things are slow POS' only good thing about them is they have a damn nice feeling clutch, other than that it's a POS.
