really need a tri-ax shifter?
 

Or any kind for that matter? I know the mustang shifter is super long, but I can seriously shift from 2nd to 3rd and I have never miss-shifted or grinded gears or anything. I can just shift super fast and was wondering from those who do have any aftermarket shifter how good you were before you got it, and how much easier it made it. Thanks.

the best thing about after market shifters is that they have shifter stops which prevents over shifting I have a tri-ax in my 90 and love it day i bought it and instaled it made my hand sore from slaming gears constantly that day just couldnt stop

My bro just picked up 1 new with handle from UPR $99. You may find one on ebay from Steeda for $100 used. What I noticed since the upr handle is shorter than the Steeda unit it is shorter to shift but more effort requirred.

i was like you i am able to powershift the stocker just fine, when i got my tri-ax the only real benifit i got was the shorter shifts save time at the track. thats about it for me i have no problems shifitng it.

But it was thinking...the shifter is so long because of its starting point in the base of the console...it basically has to be that long or its uncomfortable. Wouldnt a short shifter of any kind make is harder to dhift bc youd have to bend over further? ugh. i dunno.

no were near as uncomfortable as the way it was in the 60's they used to hack the shifters down to 4'' take all the padding aout of the seats and cover the seat springs with plywood so the seat wouldnt give. And actualy when i race i have my seat all the way forward and im 6'3'' youl shift beter that way The old time racers are fast for a reason (hard to beat experiance) just some triks ive picke up by the pros. these tricks work with every car vor example my first time driving a mustang was in a 02 5spd gt i had only 15 minutes of experiance in it with my friend in the car and she wanted me to race an 01 ws6 6pd ta which should beat a fairly stock gt with ez well i wasted him it wasnt even a race after i got done with him ( thats when i was bit) Ill just tell you a thief has never driven a car as hard as i did that nite and the only thing she complaned about was that i twisted the shifter nobe around witch used to be tite now it twists with ez :thumbsup: oops
