Default power steering fluid, quick!

What kind of power steering fluid should I use, I'm adding to the fluid already there and not draining. Does it matter?? Thanks, doing some maintenance today.

in todays P/S systems, type of hyd fluid DOES matter. the Ford # is F7AZ-3F823-BA or Motorcraft # XL-9

also of note, these systems are so easy toget an "air pocket" in and take a act-of-God to bleed

When i did the motor swap, alot of the p/s fluid came out and when i was done, i reinstalled royal purple p/s fluid back in it. I know it had to have air in the system, but all you have to do is put the front on jack stands, make sure the wheels are straight, then start the car, take the p/s cap off, then turn the steering wheel from side to side, but not all the way, just before you think the steering wheel will stop turning, you turn the other way and keep doing it. do that several times and you will notice you p/s fluid getting low, just refill to the line and keep doing that till it stays at the line. no more air. not to bad.
