Default Gear problems!!!!!

Hey guys, I got my gears in recently, and when I drove out of the lot, they seemed way off. So I took it back and the guy said he reflashed the chip(diablo chip) and when I headed home, they still felt a little off. I cruised 2 5 over the speed limit and quite a few people still passed me like I wasnt goin fast enough. The ****-ing TCH website is down right now(that calculates gear rpm/mph) so aside from havin someone else cruise next to me and tell me how fast theyre goin, is there anything else I can do???

I called the guy back and he said its gotta be dead on so he's saying everything is fine.

If you have the Diablo tuner, plug it in and go into the diagnotics...realtime data....gas drivability and somewhere in that list it has a digital readout of your speed, did the same on a friends GT.

its not a tuner. the shop put a chip in it, and to reflash it, he had to remove it and take it into his shop and he came out 5 min later and put the chip back in

Grab a neighbor or friend and go for a trip down the road. Let them keep up next to you at 30,40,50 miles an hour and see if it is off.

My speedometer is off a bit but i've learned to deal with it. Your gears sound fine, its your speed thats whacked..

YOu can check your speed digitaly.
-Turn your key to on but not the engine and hold the odometer button down at the same time.
-Hold it until your gauges swing all the way over
-Let go of the button and press it until you see someting like MPH00000 or something.

Oh here is the website! http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm You will be able to tell your tach RPM's and you speed.

yeah our speedo is controled by the computer thinking it has 3.27 gears, so with aftermarket gears and a stock tune, everything will be off. Like everyone said get someone to drive next to you and try it out.

Ok I had my mom drive next to me and there was a point where my car said 55 and she was pulling away from me and said she was only going 50. So I called the place one last time and they said its bc of my tire profile, beig wider than stock. I dunno if the 40 in 275/40/17 would make a difference, but he said he can use the dyno to calibrate the speedo and correct it. But it'll cost $40

He is yanking your chain. Tuners like this leave a bad taste in Badfish's mouth.
He can fix it without your car even being there. What a fuknut.

What I meant is that the car doesn't need to be on the dyno for him to fix it.

I dont have a handheld tuner. I basically paid the money and he installed the chip and dyno'd the car(back when I got headers put in). I wish someone could let me borrow an sct or xcal or something so I dont gotta pay money for this bs

which is better? a handheld tuner or a chip?

hmmmmm well since I didnt know what I was doing, it figured it better to just have the guy chip the car and dyno(since i was curious) rather than buy one and get it shipped to me.

www.dallasmustang.com has a calculator I think. For now though, quit driving it as you are putting more miles (according to your odometer) on the car. Sorry your tuner is being a douche.

It doesn't work that way. You can only use a handheld tuner for one car at a time. If he just tuned your car for you he should be able to reburn the chip with the right speed calibration for FREE! If he wants to charge you than he is a money hungry ***** who needs to be

UPDATE!!!!!

ok so after i got there and he checked out the car again, he did some stuff for about 20 min(who knows what he was doing)while i read a magazine and my car never moved. And so then he comes out and tells me that he didnt think to adjust the tire width in the diablo chip settings. He said he's so used to working on cobras and since their tires come 275 stock, he never has to think about it. So everything is fixed and he didnt charge me. And I did a few tests and its correct now. yessssss!!!!!

245/45/17 and 275/40/17 have the exact same diameter, he messed something else up and doesn't have the ***** to tell you. Look for yourself:

Yup, width of the tire affects nothing related to the speedo.

i dunno, im just glad its over. Everything is fine, but he was swearing to me that the stock tire size diameter is smaller than the current size I have. All I could do is say "ok" since he's the guy that owns the speed shop and would never admit to being wrong
