Default tranny mount

when i put my x pipe on a few months ago i noticed that i could kind of move my transmission up and down a little bit. so i was looking at the tranny mount (the rubber part) and it lookes like it split all the way around the whole thing right in the middle and then in the center of the whole mount it is all held together. i dont kno if the mount itself is bad or if the split i am talkin about his supposed to be ther. when i punch the gas pedal the stick (i have a manual) does move up a little but ive had a couple of 5 speed cars and the stick always moved a little when u push the pedal just from the torque of the motor. is there any way to really check this without replacing it???

Most likely the tranny mount is broken. But don't be worried...it isn't that hard to replace. I replaced the one on my mom's suburban and it took me about 20 minutes. If it's the same then this is how it works. You have to remove the bolt that the connnects the tranny mount to the frame of your car. Jack up the transmission....put on a new tranny mount...and then lower the transmission back onto the hole. It's obviously a little harder cause your dealing with a much smaller space then I had too. But it shouldn't be that terrible...
