Motive or FRPP

Does it really matter between the two? For gears.

MattJ 03-12-2006 10:52 AM

No, there really s no dfference between the two. my car has motve gears and ts great.

I got motive and my installer said that they were harder to set up than frpp. He could'nt set them up without a wine, and he was suppose to be a good installer. Pretty soon I'm getting another set of frpp gears, with the tuner and RP gear oil.

Thats a nice car man, have you posted any pics of it yet. I would like to see some.

I heard the motives weigh a little more than frpp, but it prolly doesn't make too big of a diff in performance.

I hear they are the same but of course people are gonna trust the FORD brand more...I have the FRPP 4.10's and I never had a problem with whine or anything.

Zaff03GT 03-12-2006 02:10 PM

I have FRPP and dont have a whine either

StangMan04 03-12-2006 02:17 PM

i got FRPP 4:10s, mine only whine when im coasting and my foot is very lightly on the gas. other then that they are fine no whines when she is slowing down, coasting(with no gas) or speeding up.

all we will install and guarantee is FRPP...motvies tend to whine...never had a prob with frpp...

i found a guy thatll get me discounts on frpp stuff, so ill be getting some frpp 4.10s soon

MattJ 03-12-2006 09:47 PM

Whine occurs with installation flaws. FRPP will whine just as much as motive in a flawed installation. I have motive 3.90s and zero whine.

Shambles 03-12-2006 09:51 PM

Well, supposedly Motives with ratios 4.10 and up whine a bit more than other gears. but I have yet to confirm this.

So long as you have a competent installer that you trust and has handled Motive gears before everything should be fine Be forewarned though, FRPP gears tend to have na eaiser backlash to setup, and many shops sometimes only will do FRPP installs.

FWIW I had a guy at my local Ford dealership install mine at his house. He has been setting up 9's and 8.8's for 30 years and he told me that frpp gears are the best. He said richmond gears and some other brands may or may not have a whine to them. My opinion is that Ford knows their engines, trannys, and rearends better than anybody. Stick with the blue oval and be proud knowing that your gears are not in a chevy or mopar. Unless they were smart enough to put a rock solid 9 inch in.

My Motive 4:10s are the same way. The whine is pretty quiet too. IM sure its louder outside the car, i can hear it inside, but barely.
