bored out what? can we do this?
Just curious, i aalways hear oldschool muscle car guys talking about thier 351 bored out to a 390 and crap like that. Now, i havent been into this **** my whole life, just since i got my mustang, so a lot of this crap io dont know about.
Boring our increases displacement right? Is that something we can do with our beloved 4.6 mod motors?
Is there a way to change it from a 2v to a 3v or 4v?
Seems like with a stang all you can do is blow it, cam it, and bolt **** on. What else can we do that isnt something everyone does?

Well I'm no expert either but boring is basically enlarging the cylinders in the block, obviously requiring larger diameter pistons. The increased size increases displacement. This was done to my v6 when the headgasket blew, like .030 over. It could probably be done to ours as well but I don't know extreme you can go. Stroking also increases displacement. There are kits out there that could increase the 281 up to I believe it is a 324, but that is the extreme. The walls start to get thin, almost dangerously thin.

ya need the heads, cams, chains, and intake manifold(i am not dure on that 1, i'm probably wrong)

i dont know if the computer or ecu or what ever the **** ya call it will need reprograming or what not...
i say... if yer gonna go from a 16v to 32v... just drop a crate engine in there... its definately easier... i dont know if it is cheaper tho...

we really cant bore out our mod engines too much casue each sleeve are really close to each other.......over bore it and u make the cylinder walls weak and it runs the chance of that wall breaking leading to all hell....stroke it if anything

Btw- a performance rebiuld is ALOT cheap and most the time better than a crate swap.
its really not necassry to bore anyway - that mostly ego talkin - forged parts and forced induction will take you as fast as you want to go.
