Default Hawk Brake Pads

I'll try to explain this the best I can. Installing Hawk pads on the front brakes , the original inner pad that I took off has the metal plate that the piston hits, but on the new pads the inner pad with the metal plate has 2 pins that stick out and wont let the caliper close , the only way these pads will fit is with the METAL side as the OUTER pad . Another words the piston is not hitting the metal side, Whats wrong with this, confused , Ichecked these are the correct pads, Is it supposed to be like this? Or am I some kind of dummy?

Doesn't appear to have left or right designation either , like earlier model do. both sets of pads are identical

The heat shield is on the outside pads , wont fit any other way. ???????? Instead of being on the inner.

Found out , Using some sort of teflon to quiet piston on pad, this is the opposite of what oe ford has installed on the pads,ford- bare metal on inner side, hawk- bare metal on outer side, so if installing this pad , it only appears that you are putting them on wrong !
