A comany called Howell Automotive has built a $43k SRT-4 that claims to be 452 hp at 476 ft-lbs. The car run 0-60 in 4.9 second, and the 1/4 mile in 13.5 seconds.

Howell Automotive, you guys really suck! Half of the dam guys on this site have a car faster than yours with half the hp for half the dollars and it's not a Neon! You guys should be embarrassed of yourselves or it just goes to show you that you can only get so much out of a Neon.

 

$43k...and only runs that in the quarter??

With 43 grand I could run consistant 10's....thats a freaking joke. hell with $500 I could run 12's with nitrous...that is a joke.

 

thats all traction and driver. if either is bad, that = bad 1/4 mile time

Bet you their drivers would get in your car and run just as consistant as you if not better in the same conditions. You have to realize there IS an elevation difference, track prep, weather conditions which ALL have effect on times. They test a lot of cars that go on the market including lamborghini, ferrari, porsche, audi, bmw, benz, aston marton, and the list goes on and on. Also of course they arent going to get THE BEST EVER recorded times of a vehicle. The point of testing is to give you an idea of what the vehicle is capable of...

No kidding. What was really wierd is that a mag like Car and Driver should know better. They actually rated this car #1 in their test against the other pocket rocket tuners and only mentioned that they had some doubt that the car was really putting down those kind of numbers. They should have slammed them. Zhit like this is why every dam kid with a Honda and a CAI thinks the CAI is good for 30 hp.

 

and even if it had an amazing ET not only is it still a damn NEON but it's will never under any circumstance sound as good as a V-8

I would just buy an 03-04 cobra. Put a pully and chip in it and run 11's all day. Then I woulda call it a day and with the rest of the money I saved I would purchase hooked on phonics for stang00
