Default Build the motor, then find the car ???

Im pondering this idea at the moment. I have a 99 GT with under 27K miles. Its basically like new. This comming spring Im planning a pretty serious supercharged or turbocharged 2V/4V, 4.6/ 5.4, engine build up. I havent decided exactly what I want to do, but I do know I will have a forged engine, fuel system, six speed, and a built rear end. I will also be doing suspension upgrades as needed. Im thinking of getting rid of my GT and spend about a year or so putting together my drivetrain. Getting rid of my car would free up about $420/ month between payment and insurance. Then once Im close to finished I can look for a 99+ V6 or GT which have gotten pretty cheap.
It would suck having to go a year without a Stang but I hardly drive it now anyways. Plus, my job outlook for 06 looks to keep me pretty busy. I orignally was going to go FI on my stock GT and then replace things as needed. I afraid even low boost will eventually cook the bottom end and the car will end up sitting anyways until I can afford a full rebuild.

That's a viable idea,i've thought about doing this more than once. What about just parking the car in a garage and removing the tags and buying a beater car.You would still have the payment but the ins. would go down.

I got a truck for work and running around and usually Nov. 1, I drop insurance for the winter time. I owe quite a bit on my car and I have seen 99's for as little as $6800. Ive seen auctioned GT's that seem to have minor damage go for under $3K locally. Since Im gonna change everything anyways. I dont know, I am rather attached to my car and its much easier working on something clean.
