Default 96 gt temp guage

my car keeps running warm. the guages says NORMAL and it runs around the M and the A of normal ive installed 170 stat and direct wired the fan to the ignition on high. All that did was make it take longer for it to get that hot. If crusing around town with the ac OFF it runs on the R of normal AC ON it runs on the M on the interstate ac on it runs on the A. What to do? what is the actuall reading of the guage? N=180 R=210 ?????? help

The gauge isn't really a good way to see what the temp it is. Its more of a if its in the red pull over and cool down setup. If its getting hot you need to flush the cooling system well and then make sure you burp the system to get all the air out. It should not overheat unless the car is running very lean, or has too much timing or a mixture of those can cause overheating too.

my v6 runs sits around the "a" all the time when i am just riding around town. if i get on the highway without a/c seems to run a lot cooler more towards the "r" or "m". it just depends how cool it is outside. today i was sitting on the "a" running around here.

i have flushed, burped, changed sensor and switch and nothing made a difference. i think the gauges aren't very accurate like spike said. probably should get a real one and install it on the pillar but never have.
