Default 3.73 or 4.10s

I am getting ready to install my 31 spline setup and also my upper and lower control arms this weekend. While i have everything out i was wondering about changing my gears. I have the 3.73s in there now and wondering about going to a 4.10. I have a 5 speed manual, and the 4.6 to 5.0stroker kit. i also am going to be running the nitrous and i have just put the new nto5rs on so this thing should hook up. I am running 2000 or a hair below at 60 now in 5th. Is it going to be worth the change or should i stay with the 3.73s.

If you really don't mind the higher rpms then it wouldn't be so bad. I personally wouldn't like the high rpms at interstate speeds. I don't think you will see that much of a gain by going with the 4:10s over the 3:73s but I've never driven with 4:10s.

as has been said in a million threads, a million times...

4.10 for automatics, 3.73 for manuals for street use.

I can't see spending the cash for new gears for such a small change from 3.73 to 4.10s.

yeah, but the situation is slightly different. 5L stroker kit, nitrous, tires. Thats the only reason I responded, I get tired of the "what gear should I get threads" too.

Sorry i see these post all the times also...but the guy that tuned my car said that i could possibly go to the 4.10 but i want to make sure i am crossing the finish in 4th gear. I dont want to be running out. Also with the stroker it seems like i am running slightly lower rpms then when i was stock.

what happened was the only companies made make a 3.90 for the 8.8 couldnt seem to make a quiet ring and pinion gearset. Dont know if thats still the case these days though.

But it's worth it from 3.27 to 3.73 on a stock GT?
