I saw this on SVTP and i thought i would share since i have never seen someone actually blow a motor and the pics of the block and heads look just nightmarish

yeah the oil starvation thing in corners makes sense, but if you watch the vid the vette is pulling away on a straight and then boom. maybe cause it has soo much acceleration that the nose picks up slightly and all the oil goes toward the back...? idk i wouldve **** my pants if i were the driver there, wonder what that was like from inside the car

 

Wow, thats was impressive. I wasn't expecting the fire at all. My friend hydrolocked his LS1 this week and it wasn't nearly as cool.

 

anytime you see a GM show its true colors is always cool.

 

People wonder why they keep smoking them c6 z06 motors.... hmmmm ragged edge motor with everything running at the limit, asshammer-moron credentialed drivers, QA via warranty.... hmmmm

If one of you goobs built a motor as ragged edge as the new z06 motor and planned to use it on the street, I'd call you a dumbass for building a race motor and putting it in a street car.

looks like it just dropped a valve. dunno if the intake or exhaust valves bigger on those, but the fires probably from that one valve being open constantly where it was broke. i still dont know how engines run as long as they do being metal against metal.

 

The fire is from the oil hitting the hot *** headers and cat's. That guy is lucky his back end didn't catch on fire.

this only happens to the 06-08 Z06's, they fixed it on the 09+ cars.

 

My dad has an 08 z06 and is about to take his in for the fix...He said it is happening more and more to the pre 09 models.

 

I had never heard of this problem before. I would have panicked if I had been driving behind him.

my z06's motor blew too.

I had postd pics of my blown z06 engine back in 06.

edit:

Heres my z06 engine in the back of my truck after i had blown it.

The dealer had pulled it and then warranty didn't want to cover it since I had pulled the airbox off at the track. So i had to toss the engine int he back of a truck till the warranty finally covered it.

it blew because of oil starvation probably... or just cause chebbies just suck that bad.

 

Who wouldn't defend him? The f'n thread is about a z06 blowing up. So he chimed in about his z06 blowing up.



Its okay to be envious, but to be a total douche about it is a different story.
