Default Popping Exhaust

Hello All,

I recently installed the Ford Racing Dual Exhaust to my 2007 V6. I also took the opportunity of changing out the headers with some JBA stainless steel headers. I worked out the CEL with too much air going in but now I have a popping exhaust. Not when I start up or when I decel like I've searched and seen people have but mine happens when I accelerate. It doesn't do it at first but after warming up and accelerating it will start to sound like a popcorn maker. If I go easy on the accelerator, it doesn't do it but if I go over 2000 rpm's it will start to pop like crazy. Any suggestions/ideas? I appreciate any help I can get since I have been searching for some sort of answer.

Thank you.

popping exhaust usually indicates a leak where water is instantly evaporating on a hot exhaust pipe. It sounds like your describing something different though.

That's what I've been told by everyone I've talked to. I do remember removing the spark plug cables. I'll reseat those and tighten the bolts on the headers. Thanks for the info, much appreciated!
