Default Changing tires 101

This may be the dumbest question ever but here goes. I ordered rims and tires online that are mounted and balanced, ready to go on my '07. I haven't changed a tire in many, many years but I assume nothing much has changed. In my excitement, I hastily threw on the new tires and admired my work. Today, a bag full of metal rings arrive from the tire place. What are they and are they important?

those rings would be hub-centering rings, or "hubcentric rings" they center the rim center hole to the hub flange. when you installed your wheels, did the rim sit on the wheel hub flange snugly? if not, you will need to remove your wheels and put the hubcentric rings over the hub flanges at all four corners, then put the wheels on and those rings center them to the hub.

Not to mention having the tpms reset. I never realized that changing tires was going to be such a learning experience.

I think it really depends on the type of wheel you are putting on. There weren't any with the stock rims.
