About to pick up a set lightly used locally for a great price. I've seen them on stock 17x8 wheels they look even bigger then my 275 nitto drags.

 

Are they ET streets? I've got 275/60/15's on the nova and they hook hard. Im running 15X7's with them so your okay with an 8".

 

No im talking about the drag radials and in 275/40/17 form i wanted to know if they are larger or smaller then nittos. But it doesn't matter deal fell threw.

There are ET Streets and ET Street Radials. The one's in your picture are the radials.

 

They are wider.

 

i had the 26x11.5x17 same size on my stock bullets they will fit fine

I saw some pics on stock wheels they bulge about the same, think it will be good.

 

275 is too wide for a stock rim. It loses sidewall strength. For drag racing, yeah no prob. But no good for the street where the sidewall is the thing holding up your car against the potholes and dips.

racetracks don't have potholes.

 

But r3d, the stock rim is 8". Isn't that biggger then you would need for a 275? I'm running 275's on the nova with a 7" rim.

 

most of the manufacturers of low profile tires recommend no smaller than 8.5" for a 275 width tire. 255 is about as big as I'd go. As you get wider you reduce the load the tire can carry dramatically. Think of it this way, you have a pole that can hold 1400lbs as long as the load is coming from straight up to straight down. If you cant that pole over by 15 degrees you've effectively dropped in half the total load carrying capacity of the pole before it buckles in the middle and your 1400lb load contacts the ground all sudden like.

The stock rim comes with 245/45/17's because they fit properly on the stock 8" rim.

the nova is probably using tall sidewall tires which allows more air pressure to reinforce the sidewalls so they're not as weakened by their angled stance to the direction of load. Still... 7" on a 275 tire makes me a little nervous.

 

I know you said the deal fell through but heres a picture of what you wanted to know.

 

Okay, that makes sense. The nova has 15" wheels. The only ones that fit,or did, is 15X7 with a 4" backspacing. I put the traction bars on and moved the lower shock mount to the inside of the springs. now I could get a 8" on with 5.5" B.S. Jegs don't make them in the size I need with a GM bolt pattern. So I'll have to buy a set of welds and since I just got these its going to have to wait.

 

Ive been running nothing but 275's out back on stock bullit wheels for almost 4 years now. used street tires and nitto drags no problem. Just was wondering how much wider the MT were gonna be then the nittos but now i know.

It does but i had already seen another pic of them. They are only a hair bigger then nittos.
