Default 4.10 install

I just called a few places in my area if they could install 4.10s and a t-lok for me. all three places said no and the guy i went to for my first mods told me i'd be a fool to install them on my mustang. he sounded like it was extremely risky for him or anyone else just to even install them for me. has anyone else been told this?

Ha, that's BS - they just don't know what they're doing.

A lot of shops are like that, better them say they can't do it, rather than say they can and end up screwing it up.

have you gone to every shop around your location?

it sounds like a shop that has never done gears and they are the ones who are worried. I would go else where for the install.

Where do you live?

Plenty of places in South Carolina to get it done. My 4.10 hasn't given me any problems. Best bang for the buck you can get.

yeah, rearend work is just specialized, find a place that has done a ton of them. Around here we dont have much... one of my family-friends is the book keeper for a shop that could do it, but if I really wanted it done I would take the hour + drive over to hartford and go to chris at XXtuning..... because they are awesome and everyne goes there for there mustang and STi needs...

4.10s will work the same as 3.73, you will just have a bit better acceleration and slight loss in top speed (negligible loss) and a couple less MPG's because you will be at a higher RPM when cruising. for a manual, most people would say 3.73's are good but there are also alot of people with 4.10's and 5-speeds that swear by them

can you feel that much difference between 3.73s and 4.10s? i'm always up for saving some gas but i'm interested in acceleration... so 4.10s are best? what would you guys reccommend for my 05 v6 manual? and can i take just the gear and pinion off any car and swap it or do i need more parts?

Try logan motorsports, www.loganmotorsports.com , might be a bit of a hike for you but they do great work, as a matter of fact they are putting 4.10's on my car right meow.
