How do you know if it's not working? X-pipes are always a little bit louder on manual than auto.. I still dont know hwo u can tell if one of the cats isnt working... if you want loud go off road..

Well, I wonder the same thing. How do you know if your cat isn't working?

Unless you are getting a code thrown, I doubt you could tell a cat wasn't working.

Nope because if its smashed then it is restricting the airflow even more than if the cat was working properly.

Well if it smashed, depending on the design, I too would think it isn't working as it should. However, if it weren't cleaning as it should, you would get a code tossed.

Yeah you would throw a code if its not opperating. Inside it looks like a million honeycomb peices, so even if you smash it, it would colapse and should just be restrictive or blocking in the part that is smashed. Run your car for about 15 minutes, get under the vehicle and check the temp right behind the cat. be carefull because its either hot, warm, or if it doesnt work it should be a normal warm temp.
