Depends on how cold it is...

I normally don't get in and drive if it's below freezing. If it's below zero I'll let it warm up for like 5 minutes, if it's between zero and freezing I'll let it warm up for like a minute and if it's above freezing I just get in and drive.

Just never get in and tromp on it right away when it's cold so you don't blow ur motor.

 

i have too.. i cant go over 2500 rpms or i risk bearing failure or somethin like with my little vortech buddy. takes my car about 5 minutes for the windows to defrost and thats when i start driving.

 

I'm with stanger00. I was warned very sharply to let the temp gage get real close to the normal temp before even thinking about gettin into the boost range.

 

Yes, I let my car warm up when it's cold. Other wise I just wait till it idles down.

OFF TOPIC: What weight oil do you guys use, I've been using the fac. sug. 5w20, but alot a people have been bitching at me about it. They say run about 10w30.

I always wait until it gets to it's normal temp (right in the middle of the temp gauge) before I do any hard driving, but as far as letting it warm up, I wish I could. I always drive it like a total grandma (taking like 30 seconds to get to 45) until it gets warmed up.

i love the low growl of the exhaust and the jumpy response of the cam. In reverse pulling out of my garage every morning... hearing each revolution of the cam... it's sex........

I wait till the arrow moves a bit. On cold weather it take about 5-10 minutes to warm up. Sunny weather I let it idle for about 2-3 minutes.

 

if it's cold outside I let it warm up usually, but i don't ever get on it hard until it's at it's normal operating temp

 

You should NEVER get on it until at least the temp needle has moved.

Once water temp has hit 160 degress, then you are good to go.

 

I'm such a granny until it gets warm. I miss out on playing with a lot of people when I'm on the way to work. It takes me 4 minutes to hit the highway from my house and the car doesn't warm up til I'm already on the highway.

 

you live in Orlando...IT NEVER GETS COLD!...lol... in MD sometimes, but i'm usually in a rush, why i wana get the remote start in, I never put the car in gear neways when I turn it off...

 

You have a manual right, if so I thought that manual cars could'nt have the remote start installed... Due to the clutch saftey switch thingy.

yes, i let mine sit in the garage on cold days and sit and run until the needle moves. I NEVER get on it until the needle is in the middle like it is supposed to be. I usually go outside start it and come back inside and wait alittle while until she heats up. I need a remote start. I wanna get the viper 791vx. And yes I have an auto.

 

Not legally, but it can be done, thats why i was saying I keep the car in neutral when i park neways, just kinda happened outa force of habit...I must be one of the few guyz that does it that way...idk why I just never did, sometimes when i get it back from a shop or something and it's still in gear i'm like wtf? oh yeah people do that...

but yeah point being it is possible just costs a lil more and u need somoene that knows what thier doing...

i never warm mine up, my garage stays warm... i dunno why, but no complaints...

 

I let my car warm up a bit first before driving it when its COLD outside. But then again I barely drive the stang in the winter anywayz.

 

I don't really drive the mustang in the severe cold, but the Outlander is my daily-driver to school and back, and usually its about 23 degrees each morning. It sucks warming up, so I have to go downstairs at 6:40 and start it up for it to be around the normal temperature gauge at 7:00... but sometimes when I sleep in late or something, I can't and I just drive it bare cold. The Outlander has that Sports-Tronic thing though (for those who don't know, its like a manual without a clutch), and when its really cold and I usually drive in 1st and 2nd gear... I have about a quarter of a mile hill on the way to school and if I pull that in 2nd gear, by the time I reach the top its about normal temperature.

 

When I start up idle is at about 1100 to 1500 rpms and I wait til it drops to around 900, which usually takes about 20-30 seconds depending on outside temp and how long it has been since the last start-up. Plus, if its been sitting overnight its a good idea to let the car circulate the oil for a minute due to, uhhhhh, gravity, i think:bash:
