Default Went to the track

Wasn't what I had hoped, but I ran a stock v6 which showed a difference, I guess..

I got 3 passes, best time was 15.7@97 MPH, this was my first time out, I didn't launch correctly... felt rushed by the light..didn't know i could sit there if i wanted...

Hopefully next time I will have my gears and posi (which will include a tune in it..)

My acceleration is what killed me the most I think... 60ft time was like ..2.6 seconds or some crap..

The stock v6 I ran against ran like a 17...

On street tires? Bring those 60' times down and your low 15's.

I was on streets

Also i'm basically stock aside from the wet shot, aside from the headers which do nothing for me..

Hopefully I'll have the gears and posi in with a tune...

I just want low 14s ;x

Get a set of drags, ditch the headers.

You dont have a nitrous tune?

The headers are OEM Shorties... stockers broke..

And no tune for my 75 shot. I'll probably end up with a mail order tune for that, and then dyno for a 100 shot..

Do you have an XCal2 or another handheld tuner?

Not yet, which is why I'm waiting to install the gears and posi...

I'll be purchasing a Xcal 3 from Justin when I have the cash..problem is, I don't have the cash and won't for about a month..

Yeah that 60' time is really bad. But look at it this way you can only improve on what you have done so far. Also generally for every tenth you drop in the 60' your 1/4 et goes down by 2 tenths. So if you can get even a shitty 2.1 60' which should be easy to do with some more practice you will be in the mid 14's. Your mph is plenty strong enough to go high 13's. You just need to get it to hook up better.

Ya... I'm working with a local shop ..which my buddy and his dad own to work on building the v6 properly now..

BOTH run nitrous on two 5.0s.. but ones a 600 shot, the other is a 1200, lol... 7 second cars..

I've decided to ditch the stereo system, should drop me a probably 150 lbs, the gears and posi will be in by the next test and tune, and this time i will be sure I get an actual launch.

Since I don't have a scanner I'll post up my numbers as it is on the slip..

R/T .777

60' 2.615
330 7.141
1/8 10.524
MPH 75.39
1000 13.396
1/4 15.784

MPH 97.31

That pass I ran a SRT8 Charger who ran a 13.970@103.32 MPH ... but I can only improve, I just need to practice on my R/T and launches... and the rest will come together..

Well on a test and tune night that reaction time doesn't count so don't even worry about that for now. However if you want to work on it leave on the last amber bulb to cut better lights. How were your spraying it anyhow? Just idle to WOT then at 3k flipping the kit on? what bottle pressure also?

Yes idle to WOT then 3k or 3.5k flipping it on, bottle pressure, tbh, I'm not sure of, didn't check it...I just knew it was good and warm (105 degrees during the day..)

Sup man, I was there that night, track conditions were total crap. I couldn't get my 02 GT to better a 15.4 and my 60 ft times were the worst ive ever seen. I talked to several people who were talking about being 3-5 tenths slower than thier averages. plain and simple, tires are all the difference.

one of my passes i spun so bad in 1st and 2nd i ran a 16.6 @ 104.73 mph. honestly think for our local Famoso Raceway, best investment you can make to improve E.T. is a good set of drag radials. screw 250-300bucks for gears, im buying tires.....

hope to see you out there on Aug. 8th!!

haha. Ya I think I may have seen you..not sure.. were you being staged somewhere around me?

And ya, drags would be good, but for me being a 6'er with one tire fire... it aint going to help till the gears and posi are put in lol..

I'll definately be investing in them sooner or later though..

yeah, we talked a few times, and i ran against you last pass of the night when you ran....well...the number we shall keep between ourselves. LOL.

mine was the black 02 GT with the silver stripes on it, bone stock. was hanging out talking to "Lee" (i think his name is) with the green 01 and the procharger. was also my first time to the track with this car. i too was quite disappointed. >.<

Lol ya..that pass sucked I red lighted and was looking at the guy like "wtf do i do?"

Trying to launch in the auto was kinda a pain..specially when i don't hit the brake hard enough and i hit the gas too hard lol..

But ya I'll definately be back out should be aug 8th..i'm susposed to go to a car show in pamona the next day..then i'll be free from shows...pretty much done with them, lol..

But ya, the gears and posi need to go in, especially in order to push some drag tires..and the stereo will be coming out this saturday... just kinda done with it..

yeah no doubt. one of my old cars was a v6 and the best upgrade i ever did to it was a rear swap. that was a 92 3.1l v6 firebird, and with the 5spd and 3.42:1 gears was able to get 60 foot times down into the 1.7s id kill for some 1.9 60' times with my GT. LOL

all in all i guess im not too pissed that the GT completely stock baselined at 15.4 @ 97mph. if i can get it to hook up and work on getting my shifts more consistant i should be good to go. also might be getting the exhaust done before the next run on the 8th. just gotta figure out if i want to get a BLOWmaster or not....
