Will 310-330HP get low 12's?
Hi i was wondering if with 310-330HP it would be possible with good driving and DR's it would be possible to get into the low 12's on the 1/4. Thanx. This is importan tto me because it will help me to decide which setup i go with for my stang. :icon_bril

the spare tire and jack removed are the only real weight saving i'll be doing but i might put in Corbeau race seats so i can lose some weight from that. I should have approx. 330 HP with the setup i'm planning to do. I don't weigh much myself so that helps. I have heard from others that i can run low 12's with this but wanted to ask u guys. One or two people told me maybe even a 11.90 or somethin like that could be possible!

Speaking of weight reduction...
i raced some riceboy with an engine swap and FULLY gutted interior at the drag strip. He thought he was the worlds baddest dude and he did get a jump on me, but I dont think he liked the fact that i blew past him and trapped at 100mph, with no traction at all in first gear.
lol

A tuner guy today who i think is way off told me i would run like a 12.9 with that setup, that's BS right?!?!! I am expecting low 12's if that is incorrect i need to know so i can change plans and supercharge. I really wanna stay N/A though.

It will need to make 310-330 horsepower to the wheels and have 4.10 gears and drag radials or slicks with good driving to achieve a low 12. The 02 ram air firebirds and ss camaros have 320 horsepower to the wheels and have a lot more torque than a 4.6 and with 3.55 gears and a six speed with drag radials usally will run mid to upper twelves and they only weigh 200 more pounds than the stang.

The 4.10 gears will not effect highway mileage or rpm that much when compared to the 3.73,but they will drop you 2 tenths of a second in the quarter mile over the 3.73 gears. YOU may want to even split the difference and go 3.90? you won't regret it. Don't fear the gear! The 4.10 gears with a 5speed will only be turning your engine 3000 rpms at 80 mph and can run that all day long and still knock down 20 miles per gallon.

Traction and launch is the key if you want 11's. 12's should be obtainable with 330HP fairly easy. With good driving a propperly set up suspension and a stickey set of tires, you should technically be able to run high 11's in a mid to low weight 330 HP car.
Oh and 3.90's are a waste. 4.10's or 4.30's are the only way to go.

ModMotorRacer from this site has 247rwhp 271rwtq with an automatic and ran a 12.9, and blu02gt has less than 300 HP as well and ran a 12.89. With that much HP you can definately hit mid to low 12's, and with good enough driving and some weight reduction you could hit high 11's like Pistolwhip said

I ran 12.89 with 250 rwhp at 3450 lbs. You go with 4.10's or 4.30's set up the suspension and rear end right and you'll go low 12's. I look for Nitro Lew to go 12.0 or high 11's soon with around 300-310 rwhp.

Car is down to 3050lb. with me in it,
weight reduction> no A/C,no stereo,no airbags,no seats,only driver's,gutted trunk,no sound proofing,no bumper beams,front and rears,lightweight rear control arms,Qa1 K-member,upr coilovers,aluminum rear seat delete,no rear deck,weld prostars all around,skinnies up front,no tailpipes and a lots of small stuff that was just taking space.
Suspension Front>Qa1 k-member,Upr coilovers,C/C plates,Qa1 150lb. springs,Lakewood 90/10's
Rear>8.8 rear with 33 spline axles and spool,4.30 gears,eibach draglaunch springs,lakewood 50/50's,weight jacker LCA,stock UCA
Car is still daily driver.

It may but drag racing is timing and and regardless of what people think they know... Speed, only if you get traction if you want some good street tires to run on go with Z rated. If you havent ran at the strip start practising taking off at street lights..the timing not the take off. You should be able to hit your low 12's high 11's.
What happend on the second run?
