Default Do slicks have limits?

Upon heating up the slicks, the can obviously give pretty sweet launches from dropping the clutch at high rpms of pretty much ANY horsepower level. My question is, is there a limit on their hooking ability? I've seen pics of mustangs launching with 8-900 hp and doing mad wheelies. But just say, theoretically, they had 1500 hp, or more. Is there an amount of hp that a certain set of slicks CAN'T handle? For example, SOOOO much power that the slicks would just sit there and spin, without the aid of water? For your viewing pleasure, here's a pic of over 800 rwhp launching on slicks.

I'd be more worried about a rear end than the slicks ....lol

yeah if the slicks ever cant handle the hp all you have to do is tub the rear end and fit some wider slicks in there. there are some fast cars running 10.5" slicks i think some of them are down in the 6's or 7's in the 1/4 now. i dont really follow it that much though.

talk about a question from left field...

On one of our cars you could never over power a set of slicks. What you can do is overpower the rear end. I run 8" wide slicks on mine and they can handle way more power than I put down. As someone mentioned above you have classes running into the 8's on drag radials that are only 10.5" wide. I would be very hesitant to run a slick on a manual car unless I had upgraded the entire rear end and axle set up first.
