To help out in this forum it would be helpful if you would list your mods in your signature. If you will look at mine I have my mods and best 60' 1/8 and 1/4 plus trap speeds. This is not to try and show off or to boast but to help others understand. When you ask me what your should run or if a part might benefit you we need to know if it's a manual, your tires, gears stc.

Thanks,
The Management

SO, should we ask in this thread what we should expect to run, or what I'm looking at Hp/Tq wise with what I have in my sig?

I'm trying to decide if I want to run next weekend at FFW. I don't wanna be the slowest car out there, but I want some time slips! And want to know what I should expect to run if I do decide to run.........

It is very hard to predict what someone will run. If you have not raced at a track before chances are you will be slow. That should not detur you from going and running. The only way to learn is to get out there and try. You need to practice to get better and to understand how your car performs before you can expect to run faster times. Our track has your sixty foot time displayed on the score board, I know what I'm going to run after 1.8-2 seconds. If you are on street tires you will have traction problems just learn to limit it. Don't expect too much and you won't be dissapointed. If you really want to be able to dip into the 12's you will need some sticky tires. You can always tell the street racers at the track, those are the guy's with 400 rwhp that run high 13's. I have a 2 sets of Weld draglite's, one with Nitto's and one with slicks. I never run on street tires anymore. I usally put my nitto's on the night before and drive to work with them then just go straight to the track after work. I'll admit it's a pain in the rear changing tires once a week but it beats running a half second slower.
Alot of the mod's that help you run faster times are not sexy power mod's but rather traction related or aimed at your 60' (gears, clutch, torque convertor).
And don't worry about running slow, we all start off being slow. Just go and have fun.

You can have all the power in the world, but if you dont have good tires, and you cant drive your car then that power is pretty much useless. You can get into the 12's fairly easily if you build your rear, get some slicks, and launch off the limiter.

That's another way of handling it. It makes it alot easier to help someone if you know a bit about their car. As simple as if it's an auto vs. a manual makes a huge diffrence on the mod's you should do first.
