Default Doing the unthinkable

Oh boy, where to start? Well, I drive a p.o.s. 4 banger and it just passed 200,000 and its starting to show it, so I purchased a 5.0 from a guy I work with. I'm familiar with having to replace the rear axle, front suspension, radiator, speedo gear, engine mounts, and all the other simple stuff. But I face a huge problem. The four cylinder in the car now has EFI. The 5.0 I just got is carburated. The 5.0 is not computer controlled either. Will this swap work? Also will I run into a problem with the length of the drive shaft? Both engines have auto trannies in them.

Just a little side question: has anyone ever thought of, or attempted to fabricate side exhausts like a shelby cobra on a FOX mustang? I know of a place that does custom exhausts. I will probably give them a call and ask if they would or could do that.

The drive shaft will be the least of your problems you will need a lot of stuff like motor mounts, tranny mount, etc and a lot of time

lol, yeah its a lot of work, depends on how serious you wanna be about it. it depends on your budget, and it sounds like your on a rather tight one. you can get the swap done, with pretty much just pulling parts from a few junk yard cars, or cheap autozone parts, and get a running 5.0, or you could get the right kmember, brakes, and all that other fun happy stuff. its a good bit of work, youll break a lot of stuff, and itll take awhile, but im sorry, its not that bad of a swap to do. you may be better off to just put a cluster in the 4cyl, sell it, and buy a v8 car ready to go.

I gave it a whole lot of thought about selling this car and just buying a gt, but I haven't found a gt around here that is in as good shape as the one I have. The exterior looks like poop because the paint has faded, but the interior has been kept immaculate.

thanks for you help guys. I'm just going to take it one step at a time. I believe everything should be piece of cake except my fuel delivery. Does anyone know if I can still suck fuel out of the gas tank with the fuel pump still in the tank? I was thinking that I could just connect the manual fuel pump to the existing line and that it would hopefully suck fuel throught the old pump. I could then pull the fuse to the old pump and just leave it in the tank until I figure out how to replace the entire computer and get an efi setup.
