good car you have as far as engine and drivetrain,If you do all scheduled and preventive maint. keep you foot light when not need to be heavy, and one mistake i see alot is people change the weight of the oil cause the have alot of miles, this is not a good idea for the oil molecules are diff. size and will be to small or to big to fit between the clearance creating not enough or no cushion when the piston is slammed down. most important use all good mod. components no junk and do it correct the first time and you will have a well running and long lasting car, good luck!

Okay, that was interesting.

First, congrats on the cool new ride! To answer your question, your new ride is going to be a big improvement over your Z when it comes to working on it yourself. There really are no "common problems" on these cars. A 5.0 that has been well-maintained is easily good for over 150,000 miles and there are a lot of them out there well over 200,000 and going strong. If you're planning on doing a lot of work yourself, I would highly recommend getting yourself a set of factory service manuals. They are head and shoulders above the quality of Chilton's or Haynes and can be found for reasonable prices on eBay quite regularly. For your first mods, I'd think about 3.73 gears and pullies.

For tech information, I recommend www.corral.net and www.stangnet.com
