i mean we all know the vette has the upper hand, but for god sake, the cobra stood still...i smell burnt clutch...OK, the second run is a lil better, what do you expect 35 grand vs 70 grand...

Cobra had x, catback, smaller pulley, tune, and full kenny brown suspension....vette was stock.

Don't get me wrong I'm a mustang enthiusast, but the z06 is the bang for the buck. For a little under 70k you get amazing race inspired suspension, a PUSHROD 427 ci pusing over 500 horse, great interior, navigation, all up to date technology. So if you had the money, its a car that competes with some of the best ferraris speed wise, and now quality wise. Practically all hand built motor, and car...

Well who wouldnt have guessed that. The weight on the cobra with the two passengers was prolly what, 4000 lbs+? Also, MAYBE 450 rwhp? Zo6's are no joke, that is a badass car, and nothing short. They also weigh about what, 750 lbs less than that cobra does? Great vid, those guys are crazy though. My luck, just one of those cars in the oncoming traffic would be a cop and he'd clock me at 150...

I drove an 03 Cobra for a while and let me tell you the launch is tricky. If you try to launch it at more than about 2000 rpm it would spin the tires and I felt like I was in an earthquake when the rearend started hopping all over the place. Thats the only thing I didnt like about that car .The IRS handles pretty good but the wheelhop is awful. Makes you feel like something is seriously wrong with the car. Maybe thats why the cobra guy left so slow.

Good launch or not, it would have taken a much stronger running cobra to keep up with a well driven c6 zo6. Just on a weight difference and aerodynamics a stock c6 z06 would dessimate any non kb cobra.

Edit: Did anyone notice the z06 redlining gears worst than a sunday school girly driver. And at the end of the first race the cobra is doing 145+ miles per hour and the vette is still bus lenths ahead.

A 100 shot and that snake is right with that Vette.

Let's be honest, anyone of us would gladly trade our Mustangs for a $70k Vette. ****, I would have one, but I need the back seat for the kids - LOL

Well said. It's easier to leave out of the hole at idle then to rev and drop. As far as the IRS goes, I hate it. I wish the 03-04' came with a solid rear option, I would have been all over it.

One of the local shops around here...LG motorsports know for the awsome cars, added some Longtube headers used red line fluids and tuned a stock c6 z06 and it put down 492 rwhp. ....imagine what they'll do with a more agressive cam, a good P&P job, and some juice etc... Those things are awsome....

Edit: heres the link..
