Default 01 GT vs Golf 1.8T vs Talon Turbo

Hi guys!

Here is a video of me racing a 1990 Golf with a modded 1.8T swap and an 1994 Eagle Talon FWD boosting 17 psi. Both doing 13 flat at the track.

I know we can't see the end of the race but the goal of posting this video is to let you hear SLP "loudmouth" catback and the grip of Nittos drag radial on street

I finish this race with 4 lengths of car of difference

I had:

K&N filter w/o horn silencer
70mm throttle body
Steeda Pullies
Steeda Timing at 14°
3.73 gear
SLP Cat-Back
Nittos DR 275

Here is another video, sorry about the quality!!

It's against a WRX (more boost, intake, exhaust) and a BMW 540i 1995 (intake, header, exhaust, chip, 6-speed)

I see you have the bullitts. What size tire do you have on the rear? 245/xx/17 ? Or do you have aftermarket bullitts with wider tires?

OEM tires in front and 275/40R17 in rear.

I have stock Bullit wheels and tires fits very well.

Here is a picture

I can't believe you just posted street racing videos. Your plates are even visable. You are the reason why all the rest of us pay higher insurance rates.

I'm with him, there's no way they're running 13 flat, maybe 14, but with your mods there's no way your running 12's, unless you have a super freak!

poonstang your car is real nice looking.. what type of hood is that?

i dunno if they are running low 13's or even high 13's.
I ran 14.3 stock and since then I put off road x pipe on and SLP loudmouths, underdrive pullies,4.10 gears, K&N FIPK, deep dish bullets with 315/35 Nitto Drag radial, and a TB. I'm hoping to be running a 13.7 but by the end of 2005 I wanna be in the low 13's. hopefully by October and i want to do this N/A.

i like street racing videos better than the ones at the track. track videos suck. i don't agree with street racing but all of us do it. and its definitely not worth the loss of a license or anything like that so i dunno i wouldn't put others in danger.

I am 37 years old and I never street race! Simply put, the potential loss to me is too high. Regardless of the dangers, I loose my DL, I loose my company car, and I can loose my job. I have a great career in a well paid position and I don't need to strap my family to prove a stupid point to some kid in a Civic.

Now, I was not always soo smart...I was young once. But I have never street raced from a light or in a staged fashion. Sure, once in a blue moon I might pull on someone but may only exceed the speed limit by a few miles per hour. If I am caught speeding 30+ over it is immediate loss of my company car for a year. Three speeding tickets in two years is a loss of the car too. One speeding ticket and one accident in two years....car is GONE. So, you see, to me racing is for the track.

Now, I am also the VP of a non-profit organization that helps kids with cancer. People know me, and I can't afford to have my picture in the paper or on the news from street racing.

As you get older, the cost of doing stupid things increases because you get worth more and you have so much more to loose.

If I was a father of a child living in my house (my kids are still too young to drive) they would not be permitted to buy a car. They can spend their money on college or on rent somewhere else before they spend money on a car payment. And if I caught my kid street racing, after he healed from the beating he would get, I would put his arse in the military. That way he can fly fast planes and launch rockets if they want to go fast.

I have been to over a dozen funnerals for kids just in the past 4 years including my own daughter's. None of these kids died in a car accident, they all lost their lives to natural causes. Each of them would have liked to have lived.

My little buddy Rolando was just 6, Libby did not even make it to her second birthday, Alex was 7, and young little Kaley was only 5 months old. Each of these kids fought for their lives...some for up to two years. They would love to be alive today, so it makes me a little sick when people are so careless with their lives, the lives of others, and of those who love them.

If I ever read a post from someone from the MT family who got in a wreck racing, if you ain't dead the rest of use need to come kick your arse. For God's sake, please to make me look into the eyes of your mother...I have seen far to many grieving mothers for one lifetime already.

Sorry for the rant! rotest:

i dont i have pretty much the same mods and im at stock timing and my fastest track time is 13.53 and thats with 245 gatorbacks. if i had some 275 drag radials i could probably hit a 13.3 oh yeah its an auto too ill scan my slip and post it. but i have raced a talon with 16 psi and 3 inch exhaust and i killed him at the start but after 85 90 he caught up and passed me at about 115 120 or so. but i had my 18's on at the time

I have a problem with street racing if it gets to that extent... 120? honestly, i dont street race, but i will do a little bit of 'friendly' racing if i pull up to the light near our mall, it connects to a shopping centre that no one goes in, so there is a light but rarely anyone coming from that direction, so there are two lanes and we wait for the green and gun it till the next light, which is always red, i dont think we get past 70 without slamming the brakes to make it by the beggining of the intersection, so its just a test of who gets off the line quicker, lol
Street Racing makes baby jesus cry! :sad5:
he died for your sins, not for you to throw your life away in a street racing incident. makes you wonder, if you believe in the whole christian thing, that if you died in a street race... then u went to heaven, if they would say 'no, you endangered the lives of others pointlessly, thats un-christianly, so u go to hell' so you needlessly put others in danger, so 'God' might not take to kindly to that
(yes i am calling upon the power of God to frighten street racers. Go to a track (i dont care how far you are away from one) get a bunch of your friends together and make it a day trip. :tongue8:

The idea of getting behind the wheel and racing for pink slips is as old as the car. Thing is, times have changed. People don't drink and drive anymore like they used to either.

If you are gonna have some fun on the roads, just keep it reasonable. As your self "would a Cop call this street racing?" If so, then it probabaly is. A little friendly hitting the gas is just nothing more than that.

In October were I live we had two Cobras racing down a busy street and hit a lady pulling out. Killed her instantly. They were doing a 140mph in 6 O'clock traffic. Be careful

My 20 year old son went out the other night, he and his friend left our house to go get a burger. His friend has a 02 Sliver GT, the car is stock except for loud exhaust and a 100 shot. He has been comming over and pimping me for info as to what he needs to do to his car. So they go to Burger King and a dude in a LSI T/A that they know from school pulls in. He ask's about my son's buddy's car and tells him that he would kill him. My son's friend doesn't tell him about the spray. He says he doesn't street race so the LS1 guy being the tool that most of them are starts giving them a bunch of bull about how Mustangs suck, blah, blah, blah. My son tells him to "go over to my house and talk to my dad", he'll race you at the track. The mullet head ask's what my car runs and they tell him 12.8's @ 105 -107 n/a. He says that he runs 13.4's at 114 n/a and would destroy me. They say "later" and leave, he follows and as they turn on to a 8 lane ( 4 each way) local highway he pulls up next to them and revs, then nails it to about 80 then makes a sharp right into the concrete divider and flips his car into the on comming lanes. They stoppped and waited for the Cop's and meat wagon. The mullet and his buddy were okay just shook up but the T/A was a total loss. There were other witness to back up my son and his friend that they were not racing so they were lucky. Dumb kid lost his car and got a couple tickets. So street racing may not be the brightest thing you can do. Too bad he wrecked his car, I would have loved to school his sorry butt at the track. But then again most punks don't go to the track, cause all the crap they talk doesn't work when there are hundreds of witnesses.
