Minor update: Got my 60s lower, and my times lower, not by a whole lot, but, I have figured out, i REALLY need some radials... it kinda went...

spin spin spin spin spin spin hook race is over.

you were definately running better this weekend. i think more than hooking or not hooking, getting some seat time and getting more in tune with the car was were you improved. my car ran the same horrible 60' times it has been and i still improved by lowering my e.t. almost a half a second. not sure which lane you were in, but the auto club lane has given me tons of problems on the passes ive made. ill only stage for the tower side when i go down now unless they move me.

i talked to about 20 different mustang owners this time, and each one was experiencing 60' times in the 2.2-2.4 second range. some of these cars were 16 second cars, some were 12 second cars. i find it difficult to believe ALL of them are bad drivers. something else is wrong with the track IMO.

im also ordering subframe connectors, and some other minor suspension mods to see if i can get more power planted to the pavement. if not, drag radials will be my next purchase.

SnTBakosFinest 08-11-2008 12:57 AM

+1 for radials..and suspension..

My first two passes I spun a little, my last pass I spun bad all the way down the track..and i was in the far lane..whichever that is..all three passes..

Really need low end power and some acceleration..

Considering my buddy with a lightly modded 02 GT was running 13s on radials with a top speed lower then mine... I'm cussing..lol..

Unfortunately my power isn't built until like 3rd gear...

But ya, the improvements are slowly coming on for me... I'm slowly becoming satisfied lol..

stanger00 08-11-2008 08:09 AM

just go to the track more and more and hot lap the shit out of your car and you will figure out whats wrong real quick. i think it took me about 3-4 track trips with about 15 passes each trip to have my car down locked to run consistant 13.5's when i was N/A. i did all of this on street tires stock suspension give for pro kit springs.

Steeda97 08-11-2008 08:30 AM

15 passes per trip? Geeeeze. At atco your lucky to get 3 in during the whole 5-6 hours your there.

i made all these trips to ATCO and Cecil County, LOL. trust me i know all about waiting and only getting in 1-2 passes a night at each track. i think its worth going on a saturday then trying to race on a grudge race night.

Steeda97 08-11-2008 09:00 AM

I've never been to Cecil. Atco only really has street cars on tuesdays and thursdays. Sometimes only tuesdays. Cecils something like 2.5 hours away whereas Atco is only a 30 minute drive.

stanger00 08-11-2008 09:04 AM

atco was about 2 hours from dover and cecil took about an hour to get too...that was my commute for each trip i took i went about 3 times a month from feb to may and october to december. racing in the summer is a waste well i thought it was for me.

one night i drove from cecil all the way to seaville to take a girl home. i tell you that was a long F'ng drive she was worth the cause though LOL jersey girls all the same.

Steeda97 08-11-2008 09:16 AM

lol

SnTBakosFinest 08-11-2008 09:30 AM

Gears much. I've got 4:10s and the posi waiting in my closet, I just need a tuner and master install kit..

on a good night here guys will get 5-6 passes, the two times i've been i've gotten..3 each night..

If I were n/a street tires wouldn't be a problem, but its the sudden jolt of a 75 shot that causes me to break traction... except for the last pass, where i didn't even hit nitrous because i was already breaking traction..

Steeda97 08-11-2008 10:28 AM

Without spraying you were losing traction? In a 6? How hard are you leaving dude?

Haha. I was just running my stock tune on my 4.10s and it said i was going like 70 when i was really going maybe 45.

Doesn't it make your car rack up miles quickly? Or is it tire revolutions? n00b question.

yeah you rack up miles faster...we have a electric speedo.

Steeda97 08-11-2008 11:16 AM

Yeah i figured. Why the hell would you use your stock tune for 10k miles? haha

Steeda97 08-11-2008 11:20 AM

On a side note, how do i calculate the revs per mile on my tire? I have 275/40/17's and my tuner is set to stock value. Anyone know?

i did the math for it and the speedo was reading about 4k miles higher than it was supposed to.

so now my odometer says 92,xxx miles when it should really read 88,xxx miles.

time to get hammered!

Steeda97 08-11-2008 11:44 AM

damn. 92k? What year is it?

IceMan 08-11-2008 02:01 PM

I'm going to try and not sound like prick when I say this buy you guys really need to go do some real racing...

Find a track day event and go to it. If you think drag racing is fun, you have NO idea... No idea...

Honestly, this post isn't to step on anyone's toes. Just YOU NEED TO GET TO A TRACK DAY! You don't know what you're missing. You'll never want to run a 1/4 ever again.

ummm not to step on your toes but i ran my cars at auto-x's and track events here in germany. i boiled the brakes 3 times on my stang and cooked the tranny fluid 3 times each time i tracked the damn thing on hockemheim ring. my subaru even though has less power has went .5 to 2 seconds faster than my mustang...so go back in your corner one upper. trust me i have down it all so far in my life the only thing i havent obtained is a ride in a car that has surpassed 200+ MPH. what i really want is to take a ride with a pro driver around the nuringburg ring.

all i do here is share some of my knowledge or experience. i dont know what your post did but really i dont think it helped this guy out on the track....i dont care if you think drag racing isnt a skill sport....track racing isnt either think about it "slow in fast out" basice principle. if your tires are squealing than you are going to fast adjust suspension or get better rubber.

i feel drag racing is more fun less variables and easier to figure out over a track car. i get frustrated over auto-x events.

To each his own, you should stick to drag racing.

All I was saying was how fun track racing is, settle down.

P.S. Again, not to speak out of line but for the sake of our eyes, please use some punctuation.

this is a forum...that punctuation shit is for the birds. you get my point. GTFO english professor

i'm competitive. so, naturally i hate losing. thats why i stick to drag racing when im driving my stupid mustang. when it comes to the subie its a different story that little SOB will make some turns and cut some good times. i am comparing these times to cars that are on coil-overs and on better rubber.

Why did you just call your mustang stupid?... Mustangs are excellent cars for their price tag. You can't go faster for less.

Every step I made up the mustang ladder was so damn fun. First I had my black, brand new 2004 V6 with 2 miles on it. Then I entered the V8 world with my BULLITT (amazing car by the way). Then I entered the 4 valve world with my '03 Torch Red Mach 1 until finally hitting the top of mustang line up with my '03 Cobra.

I'd still own my mustangs if they just made them right. That Cobra IRS Just needs soooo much work to be in contention at the track. Ironically, nobody wants a mustang with IRS so what's the point. I was forced to buy a chevy and I'm still a little upset about that lol.

My Z06 is faster on street tires than my cobra ever was on slicks. Not to mention after a few laps and the supercharger gets too hot, the cobra motor is about as limp as a noodle lol. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know you can cure it with a whipple but we threwa whipple on my friend mystichrome and every event it'd boil his coolant so believe me, I've done my research lol.
