Nitrous is perfectly safe if installed correctly.

FYI.....N2O does not burn. What you see here is a fuel fire. A battery cut-off switch would have prevented this.

compressed gas does explode. weither it be straight oxygen or NO2. i scuba dive and have heard numerous stories about exploding tanks in water too warm. this is possibly(sp?) what caused what you see before you.

Internet myths. N2O will not burn by itself
Extinguishing Media:NON-FLAMMABLE GAS. USE EXTING MEDIA APPROP FOR
SURROUNDING FIRE. IN EVENT OF FIRE, COOL CNTNRS OF PROD W/WATER TO
PVNT FAILURE. USE WATER SPRAY/FOG TO REDUCE OR DIRECT VAPORS.
Fire Fighting Procedures:USE NIOSH APPRVD SCBA & FULL PROT EQUIP . IF
CYLS EXPOSED TO HEAT, CYL MAY RUPTURE/BURST & RELS CONTENTS. IT MAY
BE PRUDENT TO REMOVE POTENTIALLY HEAT-EXPOSED CYLS FROM AREA
SURROUNDING FIRE, IF IT IS SAFE FOR FIRE FIGHTERS TO DO SO. NFPA
RATING: HEALTH 1, FLAM 0; REACTIVITY 0; OTHER OX.
Unusual Fire/Explosion Hazard:NITROUS OXIDE DOES NOT BURN; HOWEVER,
CNTNRS WHEN INVOLVED IN FIRE, MAY RUPTURE/BURST IN HEAT OF FIRE.
ADDNLY, AT TEMPS >200C OR WHEN INVOLVED IN FIRE, NITROUS OXIDE IS
OXIDIZER. AT ELEVATED TEMPS, PR OD CAN ACT TO INITIATE & SUSTAIN
COMBUST OF COMBUSTIBLE MATLS. AT ELEVATED TEMPS, NITROUS OXIDE WILL
(FED REG INFO)

Ya..nitrous doesn't burn. And too hot? How hot are we talking? During the summer in my city it hits 110 degrees frequently.. my buddies have their bottles mounted in their trunks .. only thing you have to worry about is it building too much pressure and releasing the nitrous (a reason as to why they have a blow down tube)
I mean..I've seen guys actually heat their bottles up with a torch...
Something had to have been connected wrong.. or something..

Your all assuming it even is related to the nitrous kit or if it even has one. Could just be the fuel pump wasnt turned off and it kept pumping in fuel to the fire. This thread is a fail.
