i raced that car in chicago it straight rolls out thats why they built it

it sounds like a buzz saw.

Did you see it slow poke its way from 50-90 then finally take off. That right there is a narrow ass power band brought on by an oversize turbo. If you keep it up near or past the redline it's got nuts.. great. When it can get out of its own way at any speed, then I'll be impressed.

Holy shit no kidding. that was a slow ass accelleration.

I bet my mustang could take that thing down the 1/8th mile

its cool, its a good number. just not very usefull. im sure it runs pretty good from a roll, but getting it to hook and not spin or wheel hop has got to be a challenge. plus the turbo lag.

but hey, that dyno graph looks good on the fridge.

I would love to open that thing up on a open highway!! I for one like the srt 4's and can see and repect the hughe potential they have.

Dang, why all the hate just because he chose to make something other than a mustang fast? Take any small ci engine, add a large turbo and its definatly gonna have some lag if you hit it at 40mph in 4th gear at 2500rpms. Take that same car, downshift to 2nd gear at 40mph and chances are you WILL see tail lights, or hit it in 1st at 2K rpms and the same will likely happen. Perhaps he thinks its dumb to sink so much into a foxbody mustang when the 87-93's are quickly approching 20 years old. To each his own, if it werent for diff oppinions the car world would be about as much fun as watching oprah.

maybe cause its wrong wheel drive...or maybe most ppl here have a thing for Mustangs...yeah, maybe thats it.

most people want a Neon about as much as they need an extra hole in the head.

and maybe if that neons Dynograph held those numbers with the shape of r3d's dynograph people would respect it more.

see below. You see... any idiot can put too big a compressor on too small a motor and achieve huge HP numbers but the only place those numbers look good is on the fridge.

And yeah... Jack's right. We can respect a 300whp STi or Evo or even a 300whp neon. They're quick and make good broad powerbands.

Dudes neon makes a useless powerband that's only interesting because it explores the extreme edges of combo potential. If it were set up with only half the power but it pulled through the whole run...I'd give it props and so would these jokers.

We're demanding... not bigots. You should know that by now.

I wouldn't necessarly say that it's useless, but that big of turbo takes a long time to spool up.

Im curious who thinks an average v8 turbo/supercharged that is nailed at 2500 in 4th gear is gonna rip the rollers outa the ground instantly? Maybe he wants to do some roll racing where average power isnt the end all/be all. If everyone wanted pretty dyno graphs we would all just spray it. I am guessing for what he is gonna do with it, it doesnt matter how laggy it is under 4 grand. He would hand out some boost slaps on the highway for you all to hang on your refrigerators :D

Do i give him props for hitting 700+hp? of course i do. I really diddnt even think it was possible to have a neon hit that kind of hp without toasting the engine. Kudo's, pretty cool man!

However that powerband is pretty disappointing in the grand scheme of things. If i were to spend all that money i would want something a bit faster in the 0-100 range. I would take R3d's stang over that neon anyday. Hell, he doesent even have a torque curve, more of a slight torque hump.....

THAT is TRULY impressive.

Besides... does anyone else think there is seriously something wrong about a 700hp that has to race from a roll?...

Did he say someting about racing on the track with it? Hell, even if he did with the proper suspension/driver I promice that has the potential to make some damn quick passes. Doubt it will ever be much of a road racer though HAHA

and that neon from a roll will smoke all most all these mustangs on this site,, and even tho he is a big HP fwd he was a nice enough guy to race me from a dig, of course i beat him both time and from a roll he broke an axle shifting into 3rd

I'll remain unconvinced. I built my car to be fast regardless of the rpm or gear. If I'm in 2nd gear and I stab it it had better stuff me in the seat regardless of me starting from 8mph or 50mph. If I'm in 4th gear and pulling 1200rpm on the road I'd better feel some shove when I hammer it (mine hits me hard in the back). It doesn't have to be the same amount of piss-n-vinegar at low RPM but it'd better be close.

Guy gets props for raiding the fringes of holding the motor together but that's about it.

Good to know he atleast runs the thing, congrats on the win!
