Default turbo vs. super

What's the difference in a tubro and super-charger? (also, money-wise)

Is this a good buy for a v6? What else is necessary to not break the engine?

thanks

turbos use exhaust to spool and increase power at rpms. Sc's use pulley belts to power the compressor to squeeze in the cold air, thereby being constant power throughout the power band. Typically, turbos can give more power, but they are hella expensive and only give alotta power at higher rpms.

Turbos are the best for FI performance. A turbo as said before runs on exhaust gas and S/C runs on a belt. In a S/C application the motor has to spend hp turning the belt and blower so it uses some hp to make hp. Whereas the turbo does not.

At the same boost level a turbo will outperform a blower.

Turbos are more complicated to install, have many more parts (on 4.6s they come with suspension usually) and are more expensive and harder to tune in some instances (due to lack of experience tunning them).

The first graph is a Twin Turbo 4.6 with a plenum and TB only. Full boost by 3200rpm 424whp and 467 tq. 9psi

The second is a twin turbo 11 psi with heads, RR intake, cam, and stroker
