trunk problem
alright so i installed 2 subs and 2 amps in my car this past weekend. while doing the install i tried to pop the trunk by pressing the button on the key chain thing didn't work..tried the button in the glove compartment..didn't work, so wtf is up? i hear it clicking when i press it to open but nothing happens. Did I blow the fuse while doing all this ? i disconnected the battery also just to see if that had something to do with it. Anybody have an answer to this?
It opens up when you put the key in so its just the two buttons aren't opening it. |
anybody have an idea what it could be?
|
The only thing that I can think of is a fuse is blown or something along those lines but I have never heard of that before that is weird.
|
Can you open it manually, with the key?

yeah i can do that, but the trunk button in the glove or on the keychain pad wont work, it pisses me off its probably something stupid too

are there any wires that connect to the trunk latch? I am not sure if that could be itif there is.
|
Did you splice into any of those wires in the trunk?
Or is the box preventing the two mounts from moving to allow the trunk to open without being forced open? |

...at least I THINK I recall you mentioning this somewhere... |
^^ I would say blaze is right because I wouldn't put a huge box in my trunk because I would think that it would make it hard to open the trunk plus less space.
|
no i have two 10s and its a real small box, i checked and it wasnt touching it. I actually i have to make a custom box cause its too small lol, but im gunna look around today and see if i can figure it out.

Open your trunk press the button, the solenoid is on the latch. Did you hear the solenoid click? It should be real loud especially if you have the trunk open. You need to see if its an electrical problem or physical problem with the trunk. Did it work correctly before you did all this work?
|
yeah it worked fine previous to installing all of the stuff, could it be a harness loose from moving things around maybe got unhooked? idk if there's even a harness but who knows, i was going to try and look but its snowing right now just my luck lol
|
I would say it has to be somewhere in the trunk. You need to look in all the areas that you where wiring up stuff and routing wires. Where did you hook up your amps positive, negative and remote to?
|
yup just checked the harness that has everything the trunk pop and the third brake light was unplugged somehow, plugged it back and she worked fine. so stupid lol thanks tho guys
