Default this is a smack in the face

ok guys so i was driving home late last night when this lil pontiac grand prix pulled up next to me. the light turned green and it took off real fast then slowed down just kinda toying w me. so i was in like 4th gear and started to speed up past the car.... every time i started to pass it, it took off and smoked my ***!! a damn grand prix!! thats not sposed to happen! then just to make things worse it turned out to be a chick driving it, i was floorin it and could not keep up WTF??!! maybe i just dont know how to drive a stick haha i didnt want to down shift back into fourth gear at 60 mph though. whats the first best mod i can make to my car to make it accelerate faster....maybe 3.73 gears?

cant believe i got smoked by a girl in a grand prix!!

some of those cars? ha, cars with less hp then us will beat us, it is a sad and unfortunate truth we must accept!

and danlon3.8 no a supercharger would not blow your car. I don't know where you are getting your info about gears slipping, or superchargers exploding, but you have some serious reading to do. Recently a guy built a 4.3, turbo, 16~psi and put down 600rwhp, the V6 can built to your hearts desire, just remember to go fast it is going to take money!

www.vmptuning.com sells a procharger with everything you need plus a tune to get your car safely running the supercharger for $4,500. You'll be a lot faster than shitty grand prix's..probably faster than mustang GTs too. lol

danlon, at 60 mph you could easily have gone down to 4th gear and stayed in it to about 80 mph then fifth. 5th gear is more like a cruise control, its not really used for racing at 60 mph, im at like 1.5k rpm in fifth at 60. and at 3.8 rpm at 80 mph in 4th.

Well I'm sure it makes the car faster than a GT but they neglected to post any dyno charts or numbers gained off the motor, but since it's VMP tuning and they know their ****, I'm sure it is faster.

The m112 makes a v6 a lot faster than a gt, on the other hand, and for less $$

If you were racing in fifth gear even a honda would embarrass you. You should have been in like second or third gear.

sounds like you might just need some more experience driving a stick shift. do it long enough and you won't even have to think about the downshift, cause you'll already have done it.

Edit: however a set of 4.10's will definitely give fifth gear (as well as all the others) more grunt

and the power:weight ratio for our 3.8's really ain't all that hot.

the coupes weigh in at just over 3100lbs without anything in em and "rated" at 190hp, so drop your *** in em (in my case my fat ***) and youre sittin a few pounds heavier. it's just a recipe for disaster

a set of 3.73...u will beat your friend guarenteed. add a second time around s/c for nice and cheep and u gotta find that grand prix chick again to show her whats up.

my best friend since 12 years old has a 86 trans am, and a 2001 firebird v6(i think its 2001 not sure though). i can ALMOST beat the 01 but the 86 has several mods done do it.......pretty fast for a carbed 305.

just a quick point. On the v6's you can't just slap a turbo or a supercharger on the engine. You said that it might blow out, the engine can take it, but you will probly need a new rear end. If you were going to do a s/c get an 8.8 rear end and get 4.10s. Also, for a s/c injectors, fuel pump, fuel regulator and other stuff too. There are a couple of great places to get em.

TMAturbo.com and they have dyno sheets!
