Default Egr FTW?

So I took my 02 to Autozone to get them to check out my Service engine light, half expecting to be running lean, and they say that my "Egr is Insufficient". What the heck should I do? My car runs just fine, no troubles other than the light. I don't even know where the Egr is. xD

egr = EMISSIONS GAS RETURN i think.

lol

your EGR valve might just need to be cleaned, i did this today on my wifes saturn.

looks like this.

try pulling it out and seeing if it has any buildup in it, might be clogged.

i dont know exactly where it is in amustang, on my honda and saturn it is attached to a metal tube that runs into the exhaust manifold. exhaust enters this valve and it sends from of the exhaust into the intake

I dont know honestly. All i did was pull it off the saturn, it was a 2 piece assembly so i opened it up and used a brush and just got all the crap out of it and made sure i could pass air through it while depressing the valve and blowing into the tube, then i checked the tube that goes into the intake and cleaned that out.

i have no idea if i fixed the issue, i dont have a GM code reader so i cant clear it to see if it comes back untill my buddy gets his code reader in it.

i hope it did fix it, EGR valves are about 130 bucks.

For a Mustang, they should be half that much.

your pressure feedback solenoid may actually be the problem. my car was throwing the same code for the longest time and we couldnt figure it out. finally took it to ford and they fixed it for free because there was a TSB out on it and my car was a hair under the mileage for the warranty.

I'll look into that too! I just hit 100k, so I'd have to pay for it...
