Just had my car in to dealer , my brakes squeaky when warmed up. Nothing else wrong pads are fine. They turned the rotors and said it would take care of it , well it didn't. 2005 25k its like a new car. anyone else have this problem. Its very annoying.
Thanks: |

Its probably dust from the brakes. Your brakes are fine unless you're hearing this evil scraping sounds like I am right now >_<

don't trip on it... usually just dust buildup. If you want to get rid of that sound then try EBC green stuff brake pads. They're a bunch more aggressive than stock so it'll sound more grindy than squeaky but it'll stop faster too.

I kind of have the same situation. I have a 05 with only 6500 miles. Whenever I start my car and start backing out of my driveway I get squeaking. It happens when I apply a certain brake pressure. What I find weird is that it only happens when I back out.
Any ideas?

the pads have seated to the rotors with a bias toward a certain direction. When you reverse it the microscopic imperfections that made no sound going forward can cause the pad to resonate in frequencies you can hear. When you apply just that certain pressure you are forcing it to happen.
So like the man said... if it hurts to do x don't do x. |

how loud is the grinding with the green stuff pads. My girlfriend just put new rotors and pads and rebuilt her calipers about a year ago, and hers are squeaking bad. Stop fine, just annoying, and after spending $600 for the whole workup, she's kind of pissed. Got it done in TX, and we moved back to MN now, so can't exactly bring it back to the shop.

Damn redneck, you know your shit. But I only have 6500 miles, they couldn't be worn out already?

never said they were worn out... it's the same principle as a violin... dig?
EBC pads are about 2-3x the cheapest pad you can find... figure on a 100 bucks for each end and you won't be too far off. I get them for 40 from a local jobber pal of mine. No I can't hook you up. |

That's cool, but you said there's a grinding noise. Is it very noticeable in the vehicle, or pretty minor. I'm pretty sure I've seen the pads on e-bay as well, can't remember if they were a deal though.
