Is this involved or can you take it from where it joins into 1 and make it dual?
Anybody done it? How much did it cost? |

you can either take it to a shop and have them make you a "true dual" setup which would be like a GT with an X or H pipe and then the catback or whatever. Or you can attach a exhaust system that attaches to the stock Y pipe and forms a dual exit.
The system that attaches to your stock Y pipe can be found at: http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/exhaust.htm You can also find them at americanmuscle.com or stangmods.com. The MAC Performance 2.5in Direct Fit Catback is a pretty known one quite a few people have it.. otherwise you can have a shop make you something and put whatever mufflers you want on. Hope that helps you. EDIT: As for installing.. you can do it yourself however if you don't feel comfortable doing it and want it done at a shop you will probably end up getting a system installed for somewhere around $150 (different prices all over the place so dont quote me on that one). |

Hey thanks for that link to V6 Mustang Stuff. That looks like the ticket.
I did alot of work on my 66' Mustang which I sold a couple of years ago and this kit looks like a breeze. I have to say that my 2000 V6 is really nice and with the GT wheels I've got coming it is really going to be sweet. The exhaust is just going to give it that sound and look. But I'm going to have to get some tires first. Thanks again I've saved the link. This forum has been such a great help. |

I have a V6 that I turned into a "true dual" running machine! Long, long story short, I started with "custom" work that was horrendous, and ended up meeting some great folks and now have a super fabricator/mechanic that can weld like a computer does!
I now have stock headers into an Pypes hi-flow catted X-pipe into dual Flowmaster 50 series mufflers welded into a MAC catback kit. And...a LOT of custom fabricating to make it all work well together! Pros: Pypes is awesome to work with and fully warrants their products! I like the hp increase my car has experienced with the X-pipe! The Flowmasters! The company and the mufflers are fabulous! Cons: I cut out the MAC mufflers and welded in Flowmaster 50 series because I disliked the MACs. They were terribly, obnoxiously loud and the tone was awful! MAC did not warrant their catted H-pipe, so I sent it back and requested a refund! Droning occurs around 45mph...a result of the pipe size and the 3.8L V6 engine. I run 2.5" piping from the headers out to 3" stainless tips. I wish I had stuck with 2.25" out to 2.5" or 3"! I wish I had stuck with the stock Y-pipe and gone dual from there back using Flowmaster's V6 dual exhaust catback kit. I have had 4 exhaust systems and 5 sets of mufflers on my car over the past year! I have forked out a TON of money and time to have the system redone from the original (terrible) fabricator work. But, I'm extremely happy with the final product now. If I may ever help anyone else out, please contact me. |
