What size wheels do you have these on, 17 x 9 or 17 x 10 1/2? I just bought 17 x 9 shelby razors and want to get as wide rear tires as i can.

i think the best you'll probably get on a 9" rim is a 285/40/17.

you should have got the 17x10.5" rim instead.

putting 315 tires on a 9" wide rim is asking for a catastrophic failure of the sidewall. Have fun... I'll buy the salvage title from your car when you wreck it.

I wouldn't even put a 285 on a 9inch wide rim...275's bulge probably the most it is safe to.

275 is the best for most tire brands on a 9" rim. 285 will bulge unacceptably and risk pinch damage on the sidewall. 315 is just plain the wrong fuggin tire. I use 275's on my 9" rims. The manufacturer spec for them is no narrower a rim than 8.5" and no wider than 10"

i'd really like to know what you're talking about....cause i have 275/40/17's on my front 17x9" cobra wheels and they don't bulge.

they're not bulging. they look like a normal tire on a rim.

There is a guy on sn95forums that somehow managed to get 315's on a 9" wheel and he swears that they are perfect.. Personally, I remember how my 275's were on my 9" Cobra's and I would never even think about doing 285's much less 315's..

275's do bulge on a 9" wheel, not bad, but enough for me to say that I would never go any larger given the same platform.

I don't think the Shelby's come in anything larger than a 9" width, unless something has changed in the last couple of months.

My rec. 275's on the back and 255's on the front.

a crazy bulge is on our race rims (old ones we can't use anymore) we have 11" tires on a 10" rim, the bulge is crazy.. but they are road track slicks so its kinda cool

hey, how do those tires drive in the rain? I may be buying a set pretty soon. BFGs run wider than other tires. You cant tell if its bulging in the pic, but a little bulge is good.

well i have the car outside, and there is no bulge regardless of what these others are saying. i've compared mine to the tires on my dad's Toyota Corrolla, and on my mom's Honda Odyssey, and there is no bulge.

they do alright in the rain...i can't complain. they're not as good as my factory tires were, but nothing you can't handle. all the first 500 miles or so when you're breaking them in, be careful on the highway. For some reason it felt like I'd start hydroplaning real slightly when it rained...but after the first 500-1000 miles it quit doing that, and now I can do 80+ in the rain on the highway and it doesn't do it anymore.

as for the snow, the rears won't go anywhere in the snow, so don't even try it, if it happens to snow.

I would have liked to, but the shelby's only come in 9" for the 17's. I got two wheels in already , they look sweet, and the other two are on back order until Dec 18th . Summit had a good deal on them.
I'm ordering two Goodyear F1 GS-D3 (275/40/17) for the rear and since my front tires (245/45/17) are still in really good shape, I'll probably stay with those and eventually either go with 275 all around or 255 for up front.

I hated them, they seem to follow every little groove and imperfection in the road. I had a much better feel for the car with 245's/ 255's. It just didn't feel as 'twitchy'.

I dunno, that's just my opinion. I'll never have anything wider than a 255 on the front again.

I guess Sumitomo HTR-Z's run wider than your BFG's.
