Right tire size??
Well i plan on getting the 18x9 saleen replica rims for my GT. But I dont know which size/brand of tire I should get? Also I have heard of bigger in the rear than the front??//
|
If you get say like 275/40/18's all the way around you can have them rotated which will give you alot longer tire life.Brand is up to what you are willing to spend and what you like.
|
I have heard of the Nitto's, Yokohama's, and Kumho's. But i dont know where to buy them from and do you have any pics of the tire that size?
|
Yea I will try and find some pics for you.
|
id say
just got the same size like lance said, causeof the whole tire rotation thing which will save ya some $$, but if you have the $ to burn def. get like 10.5 in the rear if itl fit :icon_fara

StangGT804 its best to go big and 275-285 for the rears is the safest bet... :glasses10

Lance have any side pics and what size are those again? Front and rear sizes??
|
Good thing you got rid of those chrome taillights,I mean black or carbon fiber might be a bit better but nothing beats the stockers.

Well im looking for the tires and im having trouble with finding a good brand also, some websites i have looked at dont have the same brand of tire for the two different size tires for the front and rear. Need some help lance, where did you purchase your tires from??
|
I went to a local tire shop here in town, they always hook me up.You might have to go localy and check what they can get for you.The only problem I had was that I was wanting 315/35/18's and all his suppliers were out of stock.Mine are Sumitomo HTRZ 2's. A tire shop should be able to find what you are looking for :icon_thum

Go with a 18 x 10 in the rear.
For now tirerack.com is offering bfg comps for 119.00 each in 295/35/18's.They fit nice on a 10" wheel .. And go with a 245/40/18 in the front 9" wheel(both tires have the same diameter 25.7).You can get that size from the tirerck for about 100.00 each (sumotos) |

Plus the 295 is about 1/2 wider with the same basic overall diameter than the 285's.They fit nice on a 10" wheel which most saleen replicas come in. The 315's in a 18 will require a 11+ inch wheel to have the proper contact patch.AND the 315/35/18's are about 3/4 of a inch TALLER than the average stang tire,so it will drop your gearing also. No pics on the new setup. But i know the 295/35/18's on 18 x 10's only have a 1/8 of a inch differece compaired to my old 315/35/17's on a 10.5 rim.. |
I am going with this setup My fronts are 265/35/18's and the rear are 285/35/18's
|
Also to let you kno i do not like those beefy stlyle of tires, where it is thick n wide in the rear and and small in the front.

Im sure a 1~1.5 inch difference between front and rear will be a "big and little look".. |
Well maybe it isnt much difference but i would like to see some pics!!
|
I was wanting 295/35/18's but my tire guys suppliers were out of stock on them. The 265's and the 285's match up very well though.
