Hey guys i'm lookin for some good racin tires that can deal with being on the car while on the street. Drag radials from what i've heard are not safe driving on normal highway use. I am thinkin about Bf Goodrich ones but any suggestions. Good street and good performance.

Ive had micky thompson,BFgoodrich, and now Nitto DRs,

The mickys are the stickyest of the bunch, easily the same as a slick. I broke a rear with them years ago. They hook up. But i doubt i got 1500 miles out of them. Forget about any street cornering!!! Or sustained high speed, They scare me on the highway. They need very little heating up.

The BFgoodriches were very close to the Mickys, Fine on the highway and cornering is pretty good when they are new. These do need a good burnout @ the track to hook. I got about 5k-6k out of them with about every other weekend use and the whole summer out of them.

Right now i have my first ever set of nittos. 245x16x50s on the factory wheels on a GT. These corner great, You wouldnt even know they are a drag radial. They dont launch as good as above of course. But after heating them up they stick like glue. Dry they are pretty amazing, My street tires i had last week, i would spin through 1st and 2nd, and hook on 3rd. These hook up @ 3500 easily on the street, and a little spin on a power shift. Whats amazing me is these are only 245's!!!Ive been torturing them since i got them and they arent wearing down. I see people saying they are getting 15k out of them with plenty of trips to the drag strip and just the week ive had them i believe it.

Even if i get 8k id be happy!! Street tires i would just burn up before 8k anyway. Get the nitto DRs and you will be happy.

Warning of course. All DRs are terrible in the rain, No joke cornering at even the posted speed limit of the corner on the mickys will have you sideways. The BFgoodriches were ok when they were new and had all the grooves. These nittos are the best of the bunch in the rain, but be careful either way.

Thats a lie, my nittos are fantastic in the rain. they are just as good as the stock good years i have up front.

My nittos have 6k miles and look almost new. and they have about 30 passes on the drag strip and i heat the fuq out of them and i like ot do burnouts on the street for my buddys.

I had a very light rain since ive had them less than a week. They did not slip at all but i did not push them. I will test them out on a good rain u can be sure. After driving in the rain on BF DRs, im gun shy, Getting on a interstate on an onramp at normal speed, soon as i got on the highway at the end of the onramp i did a 360!!

I love these nitto's!!!! And they were the cheapest of the bunch. I paid $129 plus shipping.

I HAve 4 nitto 555's coming soon (non-DR's) I researched these and it seems they are what i wanted. Good on the street, and BETTER traction than the Goodyears on the strip.

I have a 2002 GT and I went with Falkens, first the GRB's then the ZIEX. They have great traction, a good tread wear, and they look nice. My next will be Nitto's or Toyo Proxes.

i have the toyo proxes4 and they are a pretty good tire but in the rain they are so so but way better then the goodyears that came with it.

After about a month driving on these nittos everyday. They are hardly showing any wear. Ive did probably 5 good burnouts. It rained all day today lightly. I have no fear of these in the rain now after driving in the rain with them in the last month. They corner just as good as any tire ive ran.

No joke, these are better in the rain than the Pep boys Futura's that were on my car when i bought it.Even after changing to 4.10s. Im sure that will change after a year when the tread is gone. My BFgoodriches i had were bald after a month.

Nitto DRs are going to stay my rear tires, cept for snow. No reason to switch like i planned and just run them on the weekends and regular tires for going to work weekdays. I can fire the nitrous in first after i hook!! Again Great tires.

I blew away a subaru WRX turbo AWD, stoplight to stoplight today, which isnt easy if you have ever raced one from a dead stop. My upper and lower control arms made a big difference just like the nitto's. I actually talked to the subaru guy and he had some mods.

We stopped at a gas station. First thing he did was look at my rear tires for the brand, and my lower control arms are bright red so they stand out. I also showed him my nitrous bottle was off. He was upset and of course told me his engine is missing. And he had 87 octane in it so he wasnt running full boost!!! Swore it was 400hp, He had the mandatory ricer 5inch outlet muffler, and 1 1/4 inlet!! And one of those 100 hp computer chips!!! Plus the Giant monster tach mounted on his drivers side window Pillar!!!

I did have one once, so i cant flame, on a 88 mustang coupe, above the AC vents. It would be nice if the made 7000 and 8000 rpm models. Not just 10,000rpm ones. They would be more usable.
