Default removing carpet to install subframe conn.

Can anyone tell me if when installing full length subframe connectors, is it necessary to pull out the carpet to avoid burning/melting it when welding in the connectors ? I have a 2003 Gt Vert. Thanks.

unless you're doing in-floor type (you'd know if you were.. installation is about $1k) you don't need to bother. The heat is kept pretty far away from the carpet.

I don't think that you'd need to either, though I'm no welder. I have to admit though, I removed mine based on the installers advice. He welded mine damn near the full lenght of the connectors...except for about a foot or so in the middle. I guess if they just weld a few spots here and there across the entire lenght, like most I've seen, the floor sholdn't heat up that much. It didn't take too long to remove it anyway. It also gave me a reason to route my Sirius antenna wire and power cord under the carpet.
